Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Playing LeBron 40 minutes a night on back to backs and repeating the word aggressive when asked about anything game-plan related isn't coaching.

Why did he wait to late to sub some guys out in the mid part of the third. Anyone with half a brain could see that the starters were getting tired. I mean my god man...

You not worried about the defense at all, mate?

Because I am very worried.

People keep saying how we turned it on last playoffs but many forget we turned it on in the regular season when it mattered as well. We ramped it up late in 4th quarter in close games and post-All Star Break leading to the playoffs.

This season, we can't seem to get a stop at all. Which is seriously worrying imo.

I firmly believe we will be good enough defensively in the postseason to win.

We don't have to be a great defense in the playoffs. Last year we were middle of the pack of the 16 playoff teams. I expect the same thing this year.

We've never had our full roster pretty much all year. It has caused a lot of issues, on both ends. We sorely miss Love , he was defending well this year and his rebounding is crucial.

LeBron hasnt lifted a finger on D all year. He's a defensive anchor/elite/DPOTY level when he brings it. He will bring it when it matters.
Everyone else's effort will increase as LeBrons increases. Always has his entire career.

My biggest concern is health and continuity. We can't sustain any more injuries.

It's seriously become a joke the minutes LeBron plays every game, even on back to backs. Lue would be gerring absolutely crushed by fans and media if we hadn't won it all last year.

Don't even get me started on his defensive "strategies." Mind numbing.

I think he was trying to rest Frye for the 4th quarter but the rebounding deficit kinda destroyed that plan and he had to put Tristan back in which allowed Houston to just tilt the floor against LeBron and stifle the offense by not guarding 2 of our guys (Tristan/D-Thrill/Shump/JR)

Good observation. On top of that Beverley just left whoever he was guarding (Shumpert mostly but also JR) wide open. Paint was packed. This is where the Cavs miss a healthy JR, Love, or Korver. They needed that last deadeye shooter.

On the other end, the Cavs defense basically couldn't stop Harden no matter what scheme they used. Thompson was destroyed on switches (I still think that pretty much is the best way to cover Houston given the three point shooting they have). The traps on Harden led to wide open threes and situations where Kyrie was covering the roll man. All that being said, given the caliber of Houston's offense, the Cavs initial defense was ok. It was the horrible defensive rebounding that caused the lost.

I wish I could share the same optimism as you do man but I have to see at least some good flashes or stretches of that to see that we could still play quality defense if needed. Just haven't seen that. And, I have got a bad feeling about it. Hopefully I'm wrong!

There were certainly flashes in the 2nd quarter...

I will tell you one thing that won't happen in the playoffs that happened tonight, though.

We won't spot a team an extra 35 fucking possessions.

Shit on Lue all you want guys want in here, but this team needs to sack the fuck up, start rebounding the goddamn ball, and taking care of the goddamn ball.

I firmly believe he is one of the worst coaches in the league. Zero reason would should be scoreboard watching the Celts and Wiz. We are 18-15 since the new year.

We don't even need a good coach to cruise through the regular season. Just a guy to manage minutes and rotations and keep the team motivated and he is failing at that.

I have no idea what the fuck Lue was doing tonight leaving Tristan in for the entire 3rd quarter. THEN, he has the audacity to bring him back in for the last 6 minutes of the game.

Tristan was -27 in 31 minutes.

Frye was +18 in 14 minutes.

You can't make this stuff up.
except Houston both times Frye was taken out had a started a run.

Frye plays 30 minutes. your looking at potentially a big swing in his +/-

When you play a team that's takes a lot of threes your guards need to look for the rebound/ We have seen the team do this before but not tonight.

Also Irving kept drawing Nene. this should of been easily exploited but they team just stopped moving at some point,

Unless Lue directly told all of the guards and LeBron explicitly they better not box out tonight then he wasn't the main culprit

20 offensive rebounds to 4. Forget the switching on P&Rs. You can't beat any top team in this league when they want it that much more. Nothing Lue can do about the complete lack of effort on the glass

The fact that we lost by just 5 while giving up 20 O boards and handing over 15 turnovers is a miracle itself.

Yup!! Effort is something that is not coached....

Dantoni made offensive rebounding on threes a point of emphasis for Houston before the game.... apparently he believes coaching has some influence on it.

I don't blame lue here.

We out shot them from 2pt% 3pt% ft% the game come down to them getting 16 more shot attempts. Do to 15 turn overs to their 6 and most of all we had 4 offensive rebounds to their 20
