I'm trying to figure out why people are trying to pat Heckert on the back when he was clearly after RGIII, was outbid, and according to Holmgren, the Browns would have upped their offer had the Panthers shopped Washington's final offer. The Browns were just as hot and heavy for RGIII as the Indigenous Peoples. Let's not play revisionist history here.
As for RGIII and injury concerns, yes, the Washington coaching staff is culpable in the extent of his injury- but not for the injury itself. Max, and numerous scouts, were dead right- he was a guy who was going to struggle to stay healthy with the combo of his size and his game, and it has already shown itself. No, he shouldn't have been in the game, but how do we know the injuries weren't sustained on that very first injury? We don't. Point is, first NFL season and he still spent time on the sidelines. The scouts were right, durability has become an issue for him. Frankly I'm glad that the Browns lucked out here and instead of spending numerous picks on a QB who wouldn't be here in 2013 they only spend a late first rounder on a QB who wouldn't be here in 2013.
