RG3 Out Until 2014?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because that much top round tallent was too much to pay for one player. Heckert could have kept going and the fans would have cheered for RG3... however morgatging your future on one player fails if that player gets injured.

This goes to show how stupid it would have been to trade all those high draft picks for a running QB whose style of play is susceptible to injuries.

This maybe a blessing in disguise for RGIII. He's likely to have a long tough rehab from this injury, perhaps he'll learn not to rely too much on his legs. Just a thought. That first season back I would he willing to bet he won't be doing too much scrambling around and trying to break off huge runs.

Report: MRI suggests partial ACL, LCL tears for RG3

By Gregg Rosenthal

The early signs regarding the health of Robert Griffin III's knee were not good. The reports are only getting worse.

Mark Maske and Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that an MRI on RGIII's knee suggests partial tears of his ACL and LCL. Additional testing is required to determine whether the test results show new or old injuries.

Coach Mike Shanahan said at his Monday press conference that Griffin's MRI was "open to interpretation" so they were sending him to Dr. James Andrews in Florida. Redskins owner Dan Snyder will reportedly accompany Griffin to Florida, which is not a great sign. The Post's reporting supports the notion that more interpretation is necessary, but clearly things aren't looking good.

"One person with knowledge of the situation said Griffin might have to undergo exploratory surgery to determine the extent of the damage and whether the injuries are new," the report reads. "Another said Griffin hopes to avoid full-blown reconstructive surgery if the tears are partial, even if they are new injuries."

The Post is being careful in their reporting and no making any definitive statements yet, but they wouldn't print this report without a lot of information regarding what Griffin's tests indicate. The biggest question is whether the partial tears are the result of Sunday's injuries.

Griffin's test results remain open for interpretation and Dr. James Andrews will provide our final answer on Tuesday. It's too early to jump to conclusions, but Monday's news on balance looks discouraging for Griffin's long-term health.

I'm trying to figure out why people are trying to pat Heckert on the back when he was clearly after RGIII, was outbid, and according to Holmgren, the Browns would have upped their offer had the Panthers shopped Washington's final offer. The Browns were just as hot and heavy for RGIII as the Indigenous Peoples. Let's not play revisionist history here.

As for RGIII and injury concerns, yes, the Washington coaching staff is culpable in the extent of his injury- but not for the injury itself. Max, and numerous scouts, were dead right- he was a guy who was going to struggle to stay healthy with the combo of his size and his game, and it has already shown itself. No, he shouldn't have been in the game, but how do we know the injuries weren't sustained on that very first injury? We don't. Point is, first NFL season and he still spent time on the sidelines. The scouts were right, durability has become an issue for him. Frankly I'm glad that the Browns lucked out here and instead of spending numerous picks on a QB who wouldn't be here in 2013 they only spend a late first rounder on a QB who wouldn't be here in 2013.

We may have lucked out by not giving up numerous picks, but we're still without a franchise quarterback, so I wouldn't exactly call us lucky.

Then again, no guarantee he shreds his knee here because, as I said earlier, he definitely wouldn't have been playing in a playoff game with Pat Shurmur as his coach. The injury was also much worse than it should have been because Washington insisted on keeping him in the game when he had no business on the field.

There's no-one happier about this right now than Max.

Agree with the thinking. It's just too bad Weeden was part of the execution.

But, the play he went out on was really normal. He was just reaching down and the knee buckled. No contact. Just reaching down. I wonder if it was already damaged before that point. Heck, with it going that easy, it could have well gone out on him in practice after that game.

I'm not a Dr by any stretch, but you have to think the knee was weakened from the previous injury. Again, completely lay interpretation, but I wouldn't have a hard time believing he was just really stressing that knee to the max with the previous injury forcing an over compensation by other parts of the knee. I heard he wouldn't even let the docs on the sideline check him out. If he would have it very well may be they wouldn't let him back in.

Whatever the reasoning, it was pretty clear the guy was no longer effective as normal in the 3rd Q. I kept thinking they would bring in Cousins.

Nah, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I'm trying really hard go suppress happiness over this because I feel like a huge dick about it.

umm... what the hell good is this going to do?

the seahawks won the game, the field isnt going to get played for another 6 months, what good does this do.

also I would love to know why the field was so torn up, we hadnt received any significant rain the area since right after christmas, you would have thought that would have been plenty of time to re-sod it or whatever they do
