I've been surprised that Marion can't get any playing time. With so many guys banged up it would make sense for Marion to get some playing time.

Any updates on Marion? Did he retire and we missed it? Seems like he'd be a good fit as a third big to match up against Atlanta's small front court. Should be able to defend spots 2-5 against the Hawks.

I dunno. Maybe his injury was more serious.
The other possibility is that he is really good defensively and he is an unaccounted for weapon that can be used if we really can't stop someone. If we were to play Golden state or the rockets, I would think we would need his defense.
I kef that Blatt played him in the last two minutes of a quarter against Boston. Closing quarters with him isn't a bad idea.

Not sure what happened to Marion, because early in the season he seemed to have a lot of Blatt's trust. Blatt plugged him in to improve D. but since Marion's injury and Shump proved himself a D force there just hasn't seemed to be time for him. I mean there seemed to be time for him to me. but not Blatt.
This is my tidbit of news -- Marion has been staying after practice doing extra shooting the last couple times I've been there since Bulls. In comparison, Mike Miller, who I've been trying to interview is gone immediately after practice and never there when press arrives. It would seem one guy has accepted his fate and another has not.

Sounds like we know who the "next man up" will be if Kyrie can't go.
What the hell, give the Matrix a shot. If he can give you 15-20 minutes a game, we can go with the three guard rotation of Shump/Delly/JR, with Delly and LBJ splitting primary ball handling duties. The loss of offense would hurt, but a rotation of Moz, LBJ, TT, Matrix, Shump, Delly, JR, and JJ would be pretty damn tight defensively.

Would love just for the heck of it to see Moz/TT, Shump, Smith, Marion, Lebron, Delly lineup. Marion definitely has shown flashes of the fountain of the youth when healthy and that lineup could have potential to best defensive lineup any team could throw out there including GS. 4 and if TT is in there each guy who could guard 3 or even 4 different positions
Why don't you ask Blatt directly about it (why he doesn't play Marion)?

I love Blatt, but with Kyrie out, why not give a few minutes to Miller, and slide shump/jr/lbj to PG?
Would also have to think Matrix would get a few minutes at Sf/Pf. I would have to think he could play this series when they go small, and could be a real asset in a GSW series.
Going small works for us, but why not throw Matrix in there at the 4, instead of LBJ?

Tossing Marion in the lineup would give us a puncher's chance against GSW if we made it to the Finals. Defensively, we'd be a wrecking machine. So what we'd need to steal wins is for at least one of the role players to go off from the outside, and that's at least possible. JJ, Delly, JR, and Shump all have the ability to get hot. Tight defense, crash the boards, frustrate them, and grind out 85-90 pt. wins.
That may be more realistic than expecting to beat them with a complete sieve guarding Curry. Maybe limit KI to minutes when Curry isn't on the floor.
ETA: And damn, that would be one tight defense. Almost look like we had 6 guys out there....

I'm sorta surprised Marion hasn't been used at all.
I remember he played briefly against the Celtics right before halftime came in, got a steal which led to quick points right before the half.
The guy can still defend. I understand we use James Jones for spacing but in certain moments I'm not sure why Marion can't be used for 6-10 minutes a game.
