I see.

I just find it hilarious people have no problem with this and are fine with slapping him on the wrist and going back to rooting for this guy? You...really feel comfortable rooting for this guy? I'm sure the NFL is littered with scumbags that don't put their scumbaggery out in the light like the moronic ones do, but KNOWING this is how this guy feels, you're comfortable having him on the team? Pretty sad, IMO.

Here's the thing... how do you absolutely know for certain that's how he feels towards all police officers? He posted the picture a week ago, right after the New Orleans and Minnesota shootings and well before the Dallas incident, and immediately took it down. You've never said or done something that you didn't mean out of emotionally charged anger? I know I'm guilty of doing so, and even though I would only have myself to blame, I would hate if my character was judged forever off that one isolated incident alone. I'm not saying he feels that way or he doesn't, I don't know the guy personally, but assuming the worst doesn't help anything. I'm not a black male in today's world, so I can't sit here and say how this man should feel in the heat of the moment. Obviously, it was an incredibly stupid thing for him to do, but I would rather give this man the opportunity to redeem himself then bury him.

At the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion and from what I've seen it's a pretty broad spectrum of extremes. Some people wanted him released yesterday, some people think he should get a slap on the wrist, and some think somewhere in the middle. It sounds like the NFL is sort of blowing it off and saying he apologized and that's that. The Browns seem legitimately pissed about it, and probably gave him a final warning that any more fuck ups on or off the field and he's gone, but if nothing's happened yet I don't expect it to happen now.

He's not entitled to that kind of opinion. Not in our NFL, at least.

As for how do we know he feels that way, he didn't spout off in front of a camera or something. He made a decision to post that picture. Upload, and post. Now, you're right, we won't ever 100% know that he condones that, or whatever. But what other conclusion are we supposed to draw? I'm not comfortable with it. Maybe he can convince me otherwise, but it'd be with actions, not with empty words like, "I'm sorry, this isn't really how I feel!" in some statement he didn't even write himself.

I agree with you there on the actions vs words, and it was part of my previous post. Fine him and donate the money to the police officer's families in Dallas that lost their lives, do some sort of community service work with CPD, talk to kids in schools about changing the culture, etc. Think outside the box and figure out some ways to mend the fences and make people forget about this and show a different side. And honestly it's his career so these are things he should be offering the Browns to do as opposed to being told to do. It's one of those situations that instead of just taking the easy way out and releasing him... you can turn this into a positive for all parties involved.

I also think it would've been better if he posted a video apologizing versus a written statement. The former is just much more sincere and genuine than the later.

We agree. Unfortunately, I'm guessing we both agree that none of that will happen.

Fuck him. Why has he not been cut?
You would not be saying the same thing if it was joe Thomas or joe Hayden am I right. Guy made a horrible mistake and he needs to make it up to people with actions over time. It is a first time offense and I am willing to give him a second chance. You are entitled to your opinion, but I would hate to give up on young talent just because of a horrible retweet that was erased seconds later. If they keep him you also have the right to boycott the product. But it looks like he is staying.

I guess we're overlooking his felony arrest at UGA for possession of a firearm with an altered serial number now?

Regardless of his future outcome, his pattern of behavior is worrisome.....

I would be saying the same thing. Can't speak for Chardon but I'm guessing he agrees.

It would never be Haden or Thomas, though, because they are actually intelligent individuals so even on the very minute chance they felt this way they'd never throw it on an Instagram post like a buffoon.

Since he has been with the Browns he has never done anything like this. Again you guys are welcome to call the Browns and say I am not buying tickets or watching. But we also have the right to give the guy a chance to redeem himself.

Just wait until he's terrible and cut him in the off-season.
