Exactly...but again, you seem to think changing the team name and team colors is going to result in that...

Also, when you say "this fan base is last in the league", that's pure bullshit based on nothing but your opinion (which I somewhat agree with...we need to support this team more and quit making dumb excuses)...that's why I brought up TV ratings. The interest is there, the required amount of people who need to be interested in order to draw people to the park is there...but we need to find a way to get people to the park.

Changing a team name or colors won't bring back downtown's lost population, the last 10 years of our teams fairly uneventful history, the Dolan's burning bridges with some fans, advances in watching sports from home, etc...

There's one thing that cures this problem in the short term...winning...not changing a team name, or colors, or a mascot, or giveaways, or dollar dog nights, or the District, or anything like that...

Dollar dog nights might get me

If this team isn't supported at the park this year then it never will. This 2016 club is doing things that we haven't seen in decades. And for us to be last in attendance is a total slap, I'm not big into couch potatoes flipping channels, I want to see crowds at the game, not the faithful.

Of course changing the name/new logo/new colors probably won't change nothing, but new is in. Need something fresh.

I've never heard anyone say that the Celtics name and logo is offensive. I've never found Indians/Seminoles/Chiefs/Blackhawks/Braves racist.

The only one I can see why people have a beef about is the Redskins.

I mean we might as well just make all teams some form of inanimate object if we want to keep everyone happy. Someday PETA will go on a crusade against all sporting teams named after animals.

Those things are nasty lol they sit in water cooked already and shipped to us, then workers heat them up.

I'd rather spend 6 bucks on a real hotdog lol instead of that poison

Pro Tip: If you're there for a dollar dog day, don't start until at least the third inning.

Got to get those old dogs passed out first.

In person attendance is up over 2,000 people per game compared to last year. It is going up, slowly, and in part because of them winning the last few years, but again...the only way that number spikes in a big way is with a deep playoff run. Kansas City was 25th in baseball in per game attendance in 2014...they went to the World Series that year. In 2015? They were 10th. That's what it is going to take for the Indians to get people to the park, whether you and I like it or not.

My point of responding to you in the first place was the "this fanbase is last in the league" comment, which is factually incorrect. Just wanted to correct it.

Pro Tip: Hot Dogs taste better and are cheaper if you don't go to the game and cook them on the grill at home. The only downside is the lack of drink rails and shipping containers your house may have.

I was mainly talking about attendance and erasing the thought of interest at home

But even in attendance we aren't last in the league...the "this fan base is last in the league" applies to only 1 team in baseball...the Tampa Bay Rays. Close 2nd is the Miami Marlins.

I've never heard anyone say that the Celtics name and logo is offensive.

I always found this to be a weak counter-argument to removing Chief Wahoo.

(1) Nobody complained about the Celtics logo, as you mentioned. So the argument really ends there. There's nobody to hear out if you put it that way. If Irish people aren't complaining about a leprechaun logo...what's to talk about?

(2) If the concern is that it's stereotypical towards the Irish by virtue of being a Leprechaun, you're talking about a group of people with a very different history and relationship with America (the Irish) as opposed to Native Americans.

We are behind the Marlins in overall attendance. The two cities we outdraw are Oakland and TB. What an accomplishment! 28th out of 30th, congratulations! One plays in an open air toilet and the other in a fish bowl in a bad location. Our stadium is in a central location in a newly renovated park.

I don't think the name is racist at all. Redskins? Yeah. Indians? No way. I've never heard anyone seriously complain about the Cleveland baseball teams team name. And in the case of the "Indians" nickname, its fits in considering the historical Native American culture in Ohio...just like the Seminoles nickname fits in in Florida. But a team named the Redskins who are located in Washington DC...I can't believe they changed the Bullets team name before that one...

I do think the Chief is in poor taste though. The difference with these other teams you are bringing up, specifically the Noles and Blackhawks, is that they worked with the Native populations when making their logos. And, in the Braves case, they went away from the screaming Indian logo to a tomahawk...something I think we can do by going from the Chief to a feather, or an arrowhead, or something (I really don't want to just see a Block C logo moving forward).

Also...am I missing something with the Celtics logo? A leprechaun is offensive? I've never heard anyone complain about that logo...

And once again, thanks for proving my point.

Guy said "this fan base is last in the league"...anything that says the Indians aren't last in the league in anything is just further proving what I am saying to him...

I must have missed the era where Celtics were nearly wiped out and displaced while enduring consistent racism over the last three centuries.

Damn Irish are always too politically correct.

If the Native Americans didn't want immigrants taking there jerbz they should have had built a wall and had England pay for it.
