Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To Clarify a Lot of Trade Ideas That are Floating Around. There are only two types of players that make any sense:

1.) Players who make less than $4.837M. That's the size of our biggest TPE. We can acquire these players either for free, or (depending on their value), we could trade any number of assets: Cedi, McRae, Felder, 2022 1st round pick, etc.

You could see a trade where Jefferson/Anderson gets traded away for a player in this range, but that's a salary cap move, not a necessity.

Kyle O'Quinn makes $4M a year and would be a great addition...he'd easily be worth McCrae and an overseas prospect IMO.

Cavs should start looking at getting Tyreke Evans...

He's a goner after this season with the Pelicans.. They don't want him and he doesn't want them.

He'll be looking for a decently sized contract, but given his injury history, it's hard to envision a large market out there for him..

He's obviously better than Iman Shumpert offensively; he can play the point position no problem; he's 6'6 which gives us a bit of length defensively; he doesn't do anything for us against Draymond/Durant, but, he might be a better prospect moving forward than Iman and I think he can turn into a dynamic option for us coming off the bench as a sixth man/backup PG/backup wing.

Obviously no one really wants Tyreke Evans... but, he's likely the best the Cavs can get at this point and would fill our needs for a "playmaker" that's also a wing.

Yea brah... I feel it..

But when this happened:

Things changed...

Suffice to say, I had hoped that Evans would be bought out given the relationship with the Pelicans, but they'll likely dangle him at the deadline since it works to their advantage.

If you're offering me Evans for Shumpert, I'll take Evans and roll the dice; and it is a hell of a gamble, but one I'd be willing to take given the risk/reward.

I say that because I just don't think Shumpert helps us all that much against the Warriors. (I don't think Evans helps us all that much either, FWIW)... Shump gets torched by Curry, we don't need a defensive specialist to guard Klay, and he's too small to guard anyone else on their roster.

And I'm not a big fan of Evans.. but.. I'm not a big fan of Iman Shumpert anymore either.

And if you wanna cut it down the middle; I'd just as soon trade Shumpert for Rubio and look to move Rubio to a third team or next year.

I hear ya, man. Evans would at the very least provide some offensive spark off the bench. If only we could find a way to get Bogut as well without having to give up anything of value.

Evans and Bogut would be great, but, I don't think the Mavs are going to buy him out prior to the deadline.

If we end up with Bogut (via buyout), it'd be towards the end of the season with Cuban doing him a solid and letting him go ring-chase.

Thankfully his bitchass can't go running back to Golden State, because you know he would.

Tyreke Evans leaves a lot to be desired...

How about Wilson Chandler?

@gourimoko

Wilson Chandler > Evans, undoubtedly, and I honestly think he'd help us tremendously given his size and length against the Warriors. But; I'm not sure Shumpert gets that done... I suppose we could try for a three-team trade with Minnesota, swapping out Gay for Chandler...

Would largely depend upon whether or not the Nuggets thought adding Rubio or Shumpert helps their team.. They're currently the 8th seed..

Ehh.. Just not sure we could get this one done.

I'm still disappointed we didn't get in on Jerami Grant this off-season, or even last year when I called him out as a player to target. He's playing his role well in OKC, and brings the same athleticism a guy like Moe Harkless does. There's a few other guys out there in the league like him, I just don't think Cleveland see's enough value with how inexperienced they are.

Wilson Chandler is basically a Rudy Gay lite. Perhaps not quite as pure of a shooter, but probably better defensively. Would be awesome to have him, but I agree that it might be difficult considering the Nuggets might not want to trade him. Unless they want to trade him for an SG like Shump since they have Gallo and maybe want to make the lineup work easier. I don't know if they would have interest in Rubio.

Marcus Morris is another guy who has value around the league and could be moved for assets. He's also serve a great purpose off our bench as a 3 or 4. Good perimtere shooter although streaky....has decent post game..plays unselfishly. Does get caught in some mis-matches depending on where he's playing. When he's a 3, he can get beat on perimteer and when he plays 4, his back to basket defense is lacking. Nonetheless, as an off teh bench player he'd be excellent. And he's only making $4.6M this year.

Kelly Oubre is another intriguing guy. In a seaosn of shit for Washington, he is showing some really promise, but is trapped behind Otto Porter. Kelly makes $2M a year.

Like any trades for half decent players, it's difficult to see other teams giving us NBA calibre players for non proven assets.

Obviously if we would have traded for Gay earlier his injury would never have happened. Get off your freaking hands Ferry!

Rubio has much more future trade value for this team than Evans does... I really like Evans, and think in the right system he could be a great fit, but I ultimately don't know if he plays more minutes than Shumpert against Golden State.

With that said, both Tyreke and Rubio let us rest LeBron more this season, and perhaps also improve the Kyrie bench unit. Shumpert does not do anything close to either of these two things.

If Griff can pull off either of these moves, while I wouldn't be ecstatic, I'd still say it benefits our team.

Agreed on all fronts.

I think it's time to move on from Shumpert if we can get Chandler, Rubio, or Evans... in that order.. ;)

I think it was a non-contact injury no?

So.. it may have still happened..
