This is our only answer at this point, assuming Sanders isn't ready for the playoffs.

It's what we did last year. Our bigs rotation last year in the playoffs was some combination of LeBron, Kevin, Tristan, and RJ, with Frye sprinkled in for certain situations.

Frye played. That's 4 front court players. You just suggested we go with 3.

See above.

We went LBJ, Kevin, Tristan, and RJ in some combo in the playoffs last year...Channing saw situational minutes.

That's 4 with a 5th for certain times/teams.

A few notes:

(1) Ty will always have an excuse (Love on restricted minutes...how about our defense?)
(2) If Frye isn't hitting at a 50% clip from 3 he's COMPLETELY useless. He doesn't try to rebound and is averse to physical contact to an embarrassing level. Love the guy but he is trash as a player.
(3) Malone did a great job getting his guys prepared but damn were some of our players lost on defense. The communication was terrible (switch or no switch...reminded me of game 1 and 2 vs GSW)
(4) Guys aren't keeping each other accountable (Ty won't do it). You get backdoored...shrug and do it again I guess..am I right?
(5) Over helping unnecessarily has always pissed me off. If we do help then why help off a good/great 3 point shooter?
(6) Larry Sanders needs to be here ASAP (2 year layoff is still better than Frye). Too many uncontested shots in the paint.

Today it got crystal clear players can't switch on whenever they can. With a fully healthy and rested team, there were no excuses - and they still couldn't keep it on for more than 3 or 4 minutes.

When a team coasts through 70% of the season, with the energy saving motive becoming pure laziness, the lack of focus becomes the norm. If these guys are this driven to play, you can imagine how they show up to train. Chance of improvement is zero.

I don't really blame Lue though. This group of players seem to be too self entitled. They take for granted the effort required during the regular season. There's a lack of humility, I guess. Only a coach with the height of Pop or something would make these guys move.

And defense clearly isn't natural to most of them. Now they will have to bust their asses to get ready. Let's see.

No...today was just more of the same...

Unless I missed it and today was a playoff game...

Thing is before today, I think there were always reasons/excuses for not making full effort. First part of the season is too away from playoffs. 2nd part the team was riddled with injuries. This was the first game with a complete roster in nearly 3 months. It was expected some sort of fresh new start, I think.

If you expected the switch to be turned on tonight just because they got guys back, I don't know what to say.

This was still a regular season game in March in Denver...that doesn't change a thing, and therein lies a big part of the problem...

Moz was so bad last year he had trouble getting minutes in the regular season. Delly is a loss for sure, but he's the only real difference this year. Really what's happened is that this team has decided that playing defense in the regular season isn't worth it. You won't even be able to evaluate the D until the playoffs since they aren't going to be playing much of it.

This team's focus is that of a team that was eliminated from playoff contention a month ago.

It seems to me that the Cavs, for the most part, have resorted to a GSW-specific offense - get favorable switches onto Bron and Ky and let them do their thing.

Not sure what the defense is specific to, or what it even generally is, other than it generally sucks right now.

Delly gave a 3 man rotation at guard with Shump and JR that could cover for Kyrie but also rotated into a strong defensive unit. D-will doesn't give that, JR or Shump has to taken on the best guard at all times. If the Cavs want to rotated on a group of all good defenders now, LeBron has to be the ball handler.

Good point about Delly... he may not be a stopper all the time but you can always count on his full effort in the defensive end which can be contagious to others... he is a catalyst for effort and intensity which seems to be missing this season, nobody took that role when he left...

In addition he was a good practice player which kinda help in simulating real game speed...

I think the offseason priority should be to find the best defensive point guard in the draft or free agency to be one of the two way d-league/NBA spot. Someone they can hopefully develop to take Liggins spot. I would give Aaron Craft a call to be on our summer league team right now. They need a guy to set the tone defensively at the point of attack.

This is your answer: team isn't going to look good for another 2 weeks is my guess. Have to integrate Love and JR backin. Williams needs to get acclimated and Lue has to understand that some night playing Derrick Williams ahead of Frye makes sense. Like tonight: Faried as the difference in the game and Frye was terrible against him. Figuring out what to do with a complete roster is going to take time

Agreed.

Also, Love was again very weird. The guy just seems to have mental breakdowns. He gave zero effort on defense and you could tell he would miss a bunny in the following play.
