2016 BOLD PREDICTIONS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not rooting for Bauer to fail. I hope he wins 32 games this year.

But I don't expect it and I certainly don't like his personality and think he's a douche.

But he's an Indian. So he is our douche.

Well, now I understand why you think he is "mediocre", while ignoring every stat that proves he was anything but last year.

Letting personal feelings about the person, not the player, get in the way of actual judgement of performance...

He's his own worst enemy, IMO.

My hope is, he eventually learns that less is more before he is too old. I keep thinking one of these off seasons he's not going to worry about learning a 12th pitch, but instead improve upon the ones he already throws.

Not this year though...this year he had to learn how to throw a splitter...

He just needs to get out of his own way sometimes. But any progression up is a good thing from a young pitcher.

I saw he was learning a splitter, which could be useful as he was inducing a lot more groundballs last year, but it still made me chuckle because I know we've had this conversation about him simplifying his arsenal rather than expanding it.

He has Jake Arrieta-like stuff, he just uses other stuff that isn't so good as well :chuckle:

I'm an Indians fan who hates Michael Martinez...

Doesn't mean I'm rooting for the guy to fail just because I don't like him.

And take the disagree for being a douche again.

We're in midseason form now, I like it!

Maybe you and Moz should do a little bet. If Tomlin posts more Ws this year, you have to donate to RCF. If Bauer gets more Ws, Moz donates.

Could you find a more archaic stat than Ws? Make it REALLY interesting.

Haha, neither of these guys are, nor ever will be, anything more than a #3 in a rotation.
It's like you're arguing which banana has more black on it. Either one is just here until we get one better.

But when we're talking about our number 5 pitcher being, in your non-backed-up words, a number 3, that's pretty damn impressive. We're probably not getting one better.

Measuring a starting pitcher's success by wins?

What year is this?

If he just became a 2-seam, cutter, change, curve pitcher, he's good IMO. By far his 4 best pitches...makes me sad thinking what he would look like if he just spent all off season working on those 4 pitches.

Win/Loss record is the last thing I will ever bet on...literally the worst pitching stat available.

Just a little point of reference to show how young Bauer still is.

He's coming off his age-25 season where he posted 2.7 fWAR in his 3rd season as a rotation member for the Indians.

Carlos Carrasco didn't even have an age-25 season because he was recovering from Tommy John surgery. He returned in his age-26 season to the tune of a 6.75 ERA in 15 appearances, and in his age-27 season he was relegated to the bullpen after a slow start before finding himself, and pitching like an ace down the stretch.

Bauer has a lot of time to figure things out, and he's already a solid pitcher.

100 bucks to RCF says Bauer is worth more WAR than Tomlin, and has a lower FIP than Tomlin.

Put your faith in Tomlin's post season success and lack of being a douche compared to Bauer to the test, @The Wizard of Moz and take the bet.

Regular season, bet is dropped if 1 gets seriously hurt and misses an extended period of time.

Bauer will be worth more WAR, and has a lower FIP by seasons end compared to Tomlin. 100 dollar bet to RCF.
