Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. Love and LeBron were gassed from the 6th or 7h minute of the last quarter. The drop in production was 100% fatigue in the end. You just knew at the half of the 4th quarter that they would have a hard time keeping the lead.

Lue had a horrible minute management on the 2nd half (actually didn't manage anything), after doing a good job on the 1st.

I mean, LeBron is already averaging 42.5 mins in the playoffs. 2nd highest. This is obviously not right.

You sweep and they get a nice little break.

No one cares about mpg in the playoffs. It's about getting wins, the faster the better.

I noticed a lot of "we" regarding the reference to the book signing schedule... does Chris Parker have a Posse now?

Observations:

(1) Out of TO plays have been creative at least compared to the 50% success rate of just "throwing it up to Bron" in the regular season (we had one such play but to Love that was oddly thrown by Bron).

(2) Inserting a fresh and focused Shump against PG worked well and the double teams were great. Now just unleash Derrick Williams at PG when he least expects it :)

(3) Hot take: JR being out hopefully means they rediscover Love past the 1st quarter and he has pre-all star game impact all postseason. Just hope he is aggressive in the post against whoever they have defending him like he was in Game 2.

(4) Rotation/Bron's minutes: I think LeBrons rest should be dictated by the leads and not some outdated "time in the game." We lost the 4th quarter 17 to 24 in Game 1 and 21 to 33 in Game 2. I laughed when I read this but Ty mentioned we played more ISO to slow down the game because guys got tired.

We've had great moments so far but the blown leads have made this series appear closer than it really is. Can't wait for our first road test of the year.

Yeah, but it also has a lot of other guys. Key is to keep leads not drive our superstars into the ground. You'd have to be blind if you look at the way our team plays and think it's going perfectly. If he thinks LeBron shooting freethrows at 67% is pretty good, dude is 100% coasting on the fact that he won a championship. .
It is a completely idiotic take to say that Lue or any other head coach on the planet can somehow shame Lebron into making a higher percentage of his free throws. That is 100% on Lebron, Lebron knows better, and he's working on it with Korver. WTF else do you expect?

surely you've noticed I use the third person impersonal in my column? Always hated "i"-ness in newspaper stuff, and once you've inaugurated a tradition, you stick with it. (Not to mention I'm not Cleveland Scene -tho that's my venue- and am not paid by them so saying "I" also didn't make total sense to me. It's always been more of a collaboration of sorts.)

I've heard ppl try to tag me like it's a third-person thing, "chris parker thought it was a good idea" but it really isn't, it's just an old style that no one much uses, like Fedoras before hipsters.

As for the question itself.... I don't roll all the time, but when I do, it's Mob Deep.

Wait, who the fuck said Lue has to shame him into anything. But he shouldn't be saying things like LeBron is shooting well at the line. There's a middle ground between being an asshole and being too nice. I think it's ignorant to give a head coach a pass for constantly underperforming after a championship season.

LeBron is trying to change his freethrow, Lue thinks it's already fine... Maybe get your facts straight when you assume someone else's thought is idiotic. And try not to be such an asshat. Mkay?

Do the same thing that hasn't been working, over and over again until maybe it'll work. Sounds like his entire coaching philosophy for the season.

Happens everytime.

Don't know why Lue insists on this but it's just a dumb rotation he's established.

It's like he doesn't learn from his mistakes.. there was a small ball lineup with Love at center and RJ at the 4 that we were lucky to not drop the lead.. even on offense, you gotta some screeners. It hurts me to see Korver just stand at the 3pt line and get no shot attempts.
While he is on the floor the team has to make an effort to free him up, that's just silly not to.

To give him some credit, his defensive adjustments to just completely leave Thadeus Young and Lance wide open and come double George were phenomenal. We actually shut that Pacers line up completely down to go up 19. The ball movement just can't stop like it so often does down the stretch of games.

Agreed, that was great since they're probably going to adjust to having PG play off the ball a little more going into the net couple of games. I'm interested to see if Lue has a gameplan for that.

The point is that when Lebron is gassed to finish games it is harder for us to win. Minutes management isn't just about long-term concerns, it's about in-game considerations like whether a key player will have a burst left in crunch time to finish off the game. If it drives you crazy to watch Lebron walk down the court, dribble aimlessly without moving, and then launch a three with the shot clock winding down, then you should be concerned about minutes management. Because when he appears unwilling to move off the ball or attack the basket that can be a sign of fatigue. Same for low effort on defense.

Lue shot 82.9% from the free throw line for his career. Lebron has shot 74% from the free throw line over his entire career. He's off by 7% this year and yes he needs to hit a higher % for the playoffs.

But Lue probably knows WTF he's talking about when it comes to constant changes possibly not being the be-all and end-all solution. 74% isn't horrible and veterans tend to play to their career averages especially when it matters and they are clutch like Lebron.

Bottom line is Lebron is going to do what Lebron does regardless of what Lue or anyone else says.

So Lue's comment means nothing other than the fact that Lue is trying not to make the free throws into any kind of a big issue. He'd rather just see Lebron get comfortable and be himself. If working with Korver helps that then I'm sure Lue would say he's fine with it. But if Lebron started re-tweaking shit that he's been decent at every year then I would agree with Lue that he might be better to leave it alone. Lue mainly just wants Lebron to find his comfort zone and he might not want Lebron to obsess over more minor stuff. That is a legit concern for a head coach to have. As it is Lebron is getting asked about it all the time, so is Korver, and so is Lue so the press is already blowing it out of proportion and you can be sure Lebron and everyone else is already tired of answering those questions.

Not only did they double, they used James as a free safety which is by far his best attribute on that end. He's so good at anticipating. It also speeds the team up, and gets them out of playing position defense, which I think lulls them to sleep sometimes.
