There's no defensive scheme to fix this team's issues. Barkley said it perfectly. They just don't have enough good defenders. Only LeBron and Tristan are plus defenders. JR and Shump are shells of what they were last year on that end. Delly and Mozgov are sorely missed. Everyone else is straight up bad.

shump played great defense 3Q of last game... that counts... right???

here is the issue, this core played good enough defense to win a championship. Right now they arent even trying
 
I won't say I told you so, because I didn't expect it at all. But I love that Lue let the 2nd teamers (plus LeBron) win the game tonight. Big dividends going forward if he can trust those guys to contribute. I love when coaches go against the grain to win. Also love how he used timeouts to buy rest for LeBron, rather than pulling him. It was worth overplaying LeBron tonight to basically finish the series.

Why the team came out like crap is a valid criticism. And now they will think they can win any game if they don't show up in the first half...
 
Exactly job by Lue.
1.He made a hard choice benching all-stars in Love and Kyrie to get the win. Most coaches would not have the guts to make a move like that.

2. He made defensive adjustments by not double teaming George and Lance and started switching defenders.

I got give props when it's do.
 
Question: If the issue in the 1st half was effort and defense from the starters, than how is it that Lue supposedly coached such a bad game?

Because obviously if guys like Channing and Korver can contribute to really good defense in the second half, a system does exist and is being taught to all the players.
