2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Being to a few ball games this season, the attendence is actually better than last season, but I am sure they still have their slower week days. Bauer also isn't garbage, his stuff is there and he is a smart guy, but he at times is too smart for his own good. He needs to just throw whatever the catcher puts down and hit his spots. He also tries to learn to many pitches rather than just be good at a few. I have never seen a guy try to learn so many different pitches.

Santana is also a bit streaky, but when he is hot, there isn't a better hitter, but when he is cold then there isn't a worse hitter. Also I think we need to flip around EE and Santana in the lineup. I don't like Santana in the four hole, he changes his approach too much. He isn't an RBI guy so he shouldn't be in a spot that the RBI is expected of him. Just my honest opinion though.

Oh, nice! For the 4th year in a row I can hear about how he doesn't actually suck because he has all the tools and just needs to put it together.

Bauer thinks he is smart. So he does his own thing at all times. Probably why a guy with his stuff is sitting at a nice 5.85 ERA

He's fucking garbage. That's all he will ever be

4th year in a row? Guy put together a great season last year, but this is the 4th year in a row?

I'll give you this with Bauer. He needs to become way more consistent, and his stubbornness of trying to learn pitches instead of improve on the ones he already throws plays a big part in that, IMO.

But to say he is garbage is a terrible read on the current climate of MLB starting pitchers...also appears to stem from a short-sighted argument being made by you on strictly ERA and his attitude, which seems to rub you the wrong way...

Bauer is smart and you said his issue right there. It's not his stuff or his arm, it's because he goes off and does his own thing, hence why I said he needs to do whatever the catcher tells him to do and stop trying to learn so many pitches. He will end up being a pitching coach after he retires. He question is willl he mature enough to be the pitcher he has the potential to be.

Been hearing this select line lately and heard it again today from MLB Network's own and former Indian, Mark DeRosa:

Lindor is pull happy, and it's effecting him now.

Hit too many HRs too fast this year. Went to his head a bit and threw him off his typical approach.

People keep mentioning Santana as the reason for the struggles. I put it more on Lindor's current slump. Coincided with us going from 4-5 games over and in 1st, to out of 1st and trending back down.

Obviously not the only one, but your best player can't hit this poorly for an extended period of time.

He's too good though...expect him to get it going sooner than later.

Feels like he saw power, and eliminated what made him great to continue having the power.

Definitely not you.

But I am going to say the same thing I said to someone who was convinced Santana was going to hit sub .200 a few seasons ago because he was under .200 most of the 1st half of the season...guarantee his end of the season numbers look similar to his career numbers...the way it usually goes.

FYI, finished that 2014 season with a .792 OPS after hitting .207 pre-All-Star break.

As for the attendance. I agree its not where most of us want it right now. But averaging 3,000 more per game already before our boon season where attendance increases (usually June through August). Expecting the average to be up over 25K by this time in August, which would be a 6-7 K per game increase, which is pretty damn good. Would be a half million more fans than last season. Gotta start somewhere, and we were starting from the bottom.

I think Santana is a decent player, I just think EE is better and they are a bit redundant and will become more redundant next year as other players will step up and at this point both are limited to DH or 1st base. (outfield if stretching it for Santana). He will just be too much money for what we get to keep him, but i am not counting down the days he is gone like some on here.

Attendance is embarrassing, comparing it to last year is nice, but ultimately my fear is that Cleveland cant support 3 teams. Only time in the last 30 years that we had good attendance for the Indians was when the Browns were on Hiatus, and just fear losing a team and Indians seem most likely to me because we dont even support a winner as well as we would hope.

Not redundant when you play in the AL, IMO...

I think we will miss Santana more than people think if we lose him...some will be happy to see him go though, which I won't and will never get. Not exactly easy to replace a .360 OBP and 20+ HR a year switch hitter, but apparently to some it will be...

And yes, attendance is embarassing. But again, you can't bring it all back in one season, or even 2 or 3. Need to get it trending in the right direction, and it is, which is good.

Couple that in with leading the league in TV ratings right now, and the interest in the team is there...just need to figure a way to draw more of those TV viewers to the game, which I suspect they will now that the weather has broke and the Cavs are done.

Clevinger will go 5-6 innings and Merritt actually can pitch all day since he does average 6 innings per start in the minors. I am not worried about those two. I am worried about the hitting and them doing their jobs, which like ya said they aren't.

I don't expect them to let Merritt face the top of the lineup for a 3rd time if he's playing well. If he's not playing well, he'll probably get yanked in the 4th or 5th inning.

Indians averaged 29k this weekend. I believe they averaged 30k their last home weekend. Take a look at the seating maps for individual tickets for the rest of the season's weekend games: not a lot of availability except for upper deck areas. Those $13 district tickets are sold out for the weekend. The team has released a SRO pass for the remaining months which are really cheap ($50 for June, 6 games). The weekend attendance will only go up.

It's been said in here before and will be said again, attendance will continue to be poor through the week. Hopefully it gets better as the season goes along and we (hopefully) remain in playoff contention. (22k last night, although I think a lot of that has to do with the Dodgers.

Many forget (not saying you) that Lindor is still only 23 years old. If he was on a "normal" path, this would be his final season in AAA and would be working on the power vs average issue in the minors and away from the eyes of MLB.

When his age is considered and struggles means .253 average, projected 30+ home runs at 23 years old and will most likely win another , yeah he is horrible, lol.

This fan base ate Grady Sizemore too when he showed flaws. The rotation is a much bigger issue though and Adam Plutko, Shawn Morimando, Ryan Laffy and Mike Clevinger aren't fixing it.

Ok, who says Lindor is horrible?
