Fuck...this means Phil was actually going to buy Carmelo out, we were right on the edge of getting him. But the Knicks for once made a smart decision. What are the odd of that?

The doors are closing on major improvements for us, we should have pushed harder to get Butler (maybe by not firing our GM while he was negotiating for him).

I think this makes it easier for Melo to waive his no trade clause. He didn't want to give Phil the satisfaction of casting him off.
 
This is just normal pre-negotiation posturing. Dolan will buy him out eventually. Carmelo starting the season with the Cavs is nice but not necessary.

Except there is now a chance of a reconciliation between NY and Melo, where there was none with Phil.
He wants to stay in NY, the odds of that just increased. This really sucks, because with Phil there was no chance he was staying in NY.
 
Got some delusional people in this thread. Melo ain't coming here unless we trade Love for him, which would be stupid. So we're back to square 1. No Melo. No Butler. No PG as of now.....where are the improvements going to come from?

Is the Love for Crowder/Bradley/pick still a thing?

I certainly hope not. I've seen enough playoff Jae Crowder to know that guy ain't it.
 
A few days ago it looked like we could potentially have Melo and PG13 in a big 4 and actually compete for a chip. Now we might not even make the finals if Boston get Hayward and PG13.
