Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow, good for Hue.

This means Hue will restrict his offense to what Kizer can do.

Honestly this is the other option to start Kizer, one I didnt think hue wanted to do, but a huge part of me is very glad he is willing to do this.

Like i said before, I am not one that thinks that early failure neccessarily restricts a rookie QB's growth, plenty have failed and gone on to HOF careers.

Basically if you got it, you got it.

Get Assweiler out of here!

Can't win with him! Can't do it!

Right. Good examples would be:

Andre Ware
Chad Pennington
Gino Toretta
Art Monk

You're right.

I was told in late July that Kizer shouldn't see the field until after the Bye week, and ideally he wouldn't have played at all this season. Now he is getting a starting audition. So some will see that as a positive. I'm a lifelong Browns fan who just saw the Cavs deal a franchise player for a piggy bank filled with magic beans and shiny quarters so I can't muster that type of optimism.

Long, long live @Mandingo

Art Monk? lol

Yes, Art Monks rookie failure at QB is what led to his HOF career at receiver.

You forgot to include Brady Quinn, Johnny Manziel, Brandon Weeden, Tim Couch and Jim Thorpe in your list.

I definitely did not expect this to happen so quickly. I didn't think it would be as late as the Bye week either. I think 2-4 weeks of Brock would have been fine, even helpful, and still given a good enough look at Kizer to understand the Path Forward. I hope this move means that Kizer is ahead of schedule and ready for the job.

Go get it, young man.

Right off the top of my head.

Colleges that ran a pro style offense did have a lot of success producing pro ready QBs.

If you look for the success stories of college spread offense QBs, the search becomes a lot more difficult. Spoiler alert, you are about to mentally battle with your own conscious about publicly championing Ryan Tannehill.

tbh, really shocked they're willing to feed him to the wolves against Pittsburgh week one.

They technically haven't said that yet, they have just given him a third preseason game to start... and I agree with you.

Here's the thing: there's going to be growing pains with whomever you put out there, Kizer or Osweiler... With Osweiler, you're not building towards anything except a 2-14 season with him as your starting QB... With Kizer, who knows but the hope is you're building the basis for a future QB of your team...

There's really nothing to gain by starting Osweiler... You know who he is and know who he isn't... We know he's not very good and that's not going to suddenly change... Your argument for starting Osweiler is experience but what else? That experience doesn't translate to much...

I said this from the jump when the Browns drafted Kizer: he can't be afforded the luxury of sitting... Not when the Browns have all this capital in a QB rich draft class next year, they need to know NOW what they have in this 2nd round pick... 4-6 games starting isn't enough to make a valid decision on Kizer... They need a large body of work to evaluate if Kizer is enough to not go get a guy next year..

Kizer playing well and Osweiler not playing well has certainly made this decision easier for Hue.. But Hue's confidence and prior experience with rookie QBs, certainly gives him the guts to make this call... You also have a team with the required infrastructure (what looks like a solid defense, a good offensive line and a good run game), to make this a bit easier on Kizer.. If the Browns can get their run game going, having Kizer be a play-action QB will really help considering that's one of his strengths...

Yes the first two games of Kizer's likely career will be tough ones... But if he can't handle them, do you really want him as your franchise QB?

Kizer starting is like dating that really hot chick that you have a 10 date plan to fuck her and then without warning or planning you end up fucking her by date 3.
