Jae Crowder, See Ya When We See Ya

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This move really needs to be made to get a 2nd 3-pt shooter on the floor for the distributors (Rose, Wade, and LeBron) to kick it to.

And Thompson off the bench will help add some toughness to a group that is primarily filled with shooters, including Korver.

In other words, Wade's stubbornness in refusing to learn his role is making us reconstruct our entire starting lineup. While Thompson needs to come off the bench, making KEVIN LOVE your starting center for an entire season is FUBAR. In other words, a Lue move.

And fuck off Wade.

Think this is the right move. Jae Crowder expected to start for Cavs, Tristan Thompson moving to the bench.

Good. I think depth chart with IT out will look something like this:

DR ----------- DW.................................kf/jc.......[IT]...................GONE FROM ROSTER ------> Perkins, Tavares, Felder (?), Calderon (?), Shump/Jeff (?)
JR ----------- IS?/RJ?...........................co
JC ----------- KK..................................rj?
LJ ----------- JG...................................cf
KL ----------- TT...................................az

That's a really good 10-man group. Not sure if Shump/Jeff will be around. I would think Green displaces Frye, but not sure.

People can diss Wade, but Wade is an excellent play maker and can still play. He will crush 2nd Units. And he can finish games if Lue wants.

It's really a luxury to have him while Thomas is out.

If we play with pace and speed, we will be dangerous on offense. I just fear that teams will slow tempo down and punish us inside defensively with our lack of ceiling..

I can still remember our first year with lbj back.. We can score but teams ran lay up lines towards the basket without a shot blocking center, until mozgod came along..

Gsw are successful with small ball because green was a monster defensively. They also started games with a traditional lineup that made them flexible..

If you look around the league, there just aren't alot of traditional PF's that can make us pay or even work hard using a small ball lineup with Crowder at PF.

The only team's I see are really the Clippers with Blake, Pels with AD, Nuggets with Milsap. That's really about it and you could just start TT/Love against those teams who we will never see in the Finals. And Crowder can probably check those guys somewhat decently as all of them are really more perimeter oriented.

I think our ability to switch and not get pick and rolled to death will help the D and the spacing should be good, so overall I like the move. The only concern is having absolutely zero rim protection.

No, it's not.

Love playing the 5 doesn't mean he spends the entire time in the paint. In fact, he wouldn't spend any more time in the paint than he would otherwise. The biggest benefit to Love playing the 5 is LBJ playing the 4--which is the VERY BEST fucking move we could make with our rotations.

And it's already been made clear by Wade and the media that Wade is fine coming off the bench (if that's what Lue decides).

I'm no Lue fan--I believe he still has a lot of proving to do after last year. BUT, you're way off target with this one.

Why are we having Crowder start? Wasn't the point of acquiring him so he would be the best back-up that LeBron never had? Or are we strictly relying on Jeff Green to spell LeBron?

Him and LeBron were always going to play a lot together. Crowder is probably our best defender so starting him is a way to maximize his minutes. I imagine he'll be in the game while LeBron is out a lot of the time.

Jae Crowder is far too good to be strictly a backup SF that exclusively plays the 12 spare LeBron-less minutes. He's arguably the 3rd best (4th at the lowest) player on this team.

No worries, there will be plenty of times when only one of the two is on the floor, and Jae will play plenty at small forward.

Jae Crowder - most overrated player in RCF history?
