@The Wizard of Moz I have an outrageous plan that you may or may not like, but it is quite possible it could happen in theory that would actually go for straight talent in 2018 rather than just do the normal just adding picks.
At the moment Cleveland is picking 1 which is likely a QB spot, so we are making a trade with the Giants lets say and move down to number 4, thus netting us an additional 2nd round pick and something next season/another third this season. Yes it would cost them a fair amount to do it. I am betting a 2nd in 18 and a 2nd in 19. I am expecting the Texans pick to be somewhere around 15.
That means we go into day 1 of the draft with picks 4, 15, 35, 37, 47, 58, 65
Now onto more trades: We use pick 35 and 65 to net us back into the first round in the early 20s, so lets say 21 for the heck of it. Then we move 37 and next years 1st (plus maybe a 4th or something like that) for a pick that is like 16, so lets go with that.
Now we have 4, 15, 16, 21, 47 and 58 (Yes that is actually possible)
Next order of business, we sign CB Trumaine Johnson from the Rams, WR DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans, TE Tyler Eifert from the Bengals, RB Devonta Freeman from the Falcons. Maybe pick up a S Kam Chancellor/S Malcolm Jenkins/S LaMarcus Joyner while we are at it.
Then in the draft: 4: S Derwin James 15: S/CB Fitzpatrick 16: WR St. Brown 21: DE Sam Hubbard 47: RB Bo Scarborough 58: LB Malik Jefferson
Aka I am not sure of which players we would pick, but we have the assets and cap space next season to do all those moves. I am mostly going by b00bies list for the most part/chat in the 18 draft prospects.
Now how would you feel about the Browns with that type of roster?
