2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Letting go Crockett is a mistake in my opinion

He doesn’t have any options left. Merritt is out of options as well so they could only keep one and it’s smarter to keep the Starter than the relief guy.

I just don’t know what happened to the kid, either the league adjusted and he didn’t adjust back or their was some character issues and Francona didn’t end up liking the kid cause of it. We won’t know until he plays again (likely somewhere else)

It doesn’t seem like they are looking to utilize the Rule 5 this season then since they have filled the 40 man roster.

I am pretty sure Refsnyder has an option year left, but I am not sure on that one @BimboColesHair to confirm or not confirm me on that one.

We Castro and Chang I don’t think we will see this season, but are on it so we don’t lose either guy in the Rule 5

Gonzalez, Urshela, Merritt and Armstrong Are all out of options with likely 2 spots for them so two more will be cut during spring training if not beforehand

He has none.

Placeholder guy, with the hopes of keeping him around for minor league depth, like what we did with Shaffer last year. He'll eat a DFA when we sign people.

Do you know how much we have left in our pool to sign any of the guys they lost??

Also doesn’t this hurt the prospects just as much if not more than the organization? I just feel these guys just got settled in and now they have to move to a new ball club. I am guessing they get to keep their bonuses and whatnot, but still they have to search for a new team and new home.

Gotcha! I wasn’t sure since he did get added to the 40 man mid season, so they must have used an option after that on him and sent him back to the minors.

So guys without options to start the offseason who may not make the team: Refsnyder, Almonte, Armstrong, Merritt, Urshela, Gonzalez

I feel they will non-tender Almonte since he is due a projected 1.1 mil area in Arbitration.

Do you see anyone we could target in the Rule 5 (I am thinking RH OF to replace Jackson) or anyone on waivers that is of interest?

Almonte has an option.

I feel bad for the players since they have to go find another team again. Now I am not sure if the Indians can take advantage of the situation or not since I don’t know how much is left in their pool.

Doubt it matters much to Maitan . Plus he got a $4+ million signing bonus.

14 year old ? My goodness that just sounds dirty...

That’s true, but it’s nice to just get settled in and stay there for awhile. Also they don’t have a whole ton of choices left on where they can go this time of the year. I just don’t know how much every team has left in their pool for international signings
