2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am not giving up hope just yet...

I think a Boise St. win and a TCU win could help us out.

You just know they are going to place us #5 just to fuck with us/punish us for losing to Iowa if we beat Wisconsin.

It's a damn long shot but no matter what if we beat Wisky, I will be happy and will be cheering them the fuck on in whatever bowl we get placed.

If we don't make it, I am hoping Orange. I am actually flying down to Florida December 30th. So may have to make a pit stop in Miami

Agreed. Joel Klatt just gave them shit on FS1 for that. He said it's too obvious its not even funny. They "cooked the books" lol. Listed exactly what you said and said it's an "invitational' and a "sponsor's exemption" if Bama makes it. Sucks when 6 of the 13 committee members have SEC/ACC ties
Yep. And by putting an undefeated Wisconsin at #4 below a 2 loss Auburn team means an Ohio state win against them doesn't do much to put them above Alabama.

I guess none of us know what will happen if OSU beats Wisconsin on Saturday in terms of their playoffs chances. I will say this. If Bama does get in, they will have a very light resume. It will be much lighter than what OSU's was last season. It has been said before, I believe. But, Bama is a lot more like 2015 OSU than 2016 OSU. They may well be one of the top 4 teams as I believe OSU was in 2015. But, they just don't have enough quality wins to back that statement up.

They also don't have a 31-point loss to a mediocre Iowa team.

That is true. But, the committee seems to place more of an emphasis on who you beat as opposed who you lost to in that regard. But, that is certainly the strongest argument against OSU.

It's the only argument Bama has, which is pretty telling when you think about it. They can't even say anything good about themselves.

Those quotes from Hocutt to Dinich give me some real hope. He's saying Bama & OSU are close and that conference championships are a way to separate those close teams...

I don't think Alabama OR Ohio State deserve to make it.

Just depends on who deserves it more, though. I'm sure we will lose Saturday and everything else will remain status quo so the committee doesn't have to make a tough choice.

You'd think on a forum with like 5 active posters, instead of just clicking a disagree button, we'd make a post and perhaps discuss soemthing...but nope. :chuckle:

Bama has a real 2015 Buckeyes vibe to them...similar resume.

2015 Buckeyes found themselves behind 2 loss conference champ Stanford in the final ranking before bowl season.

Yep! I think it was @col63onel that pointed that out over the weekend.

Rece Davis has been driving the 2015 OSU/2017 Bama comparison. I wish someone on that show would mention that Stanford tidbit too.

Honestly I'd take the 2015 Buckeyes over this year's Bama squad. That 2015 team was far more talented than these Tide IMO. I see this year's Bama team as more likely to get blown out if they make it. Not 31-0 bad... but if they got a rematch against Clemson this season I'd take the points and put it all on Clemson before they announce the second game

I disagreed with the defeatist tone of your post. Hope that's explanation enough.

I wasnt actually predicting a loss. I was saying I’m sure things will fall into place so they dont have to make a tough decision. It was a half joking point that was an indictment of this retarded committee, not the football team.

Thought that was obvious, but y’know.

Stanford/USC tonight.

No crazy implications honestly since ND is out of it, but nice to see Darnold on main stage tonight.

I still like him honestly. The talent is there.
