Say you are a democrat who is undecided on who to vote for and you don't like Trump. You see a list of Democrats in Congress who are in favor of impeaching Trump and those against it. That will get your attention. just like campaign ads. This vote is no different for Democrats than it is for Republicans who are upset at Republicans that voted for the Tax Bill or voted yes on that failed Healthcare bill. Constituents see this and they remember these things when they vote.

Like, this vote was a political strategy that does not hurt The Democratic Party as a whole. Democrats aren't turned off by a vote to Impeach Trump. They will however be drawn in to who voted against it and why and that is what will put more pressure on Dems in Congress who are in danger of losing their seats.

You're arguing this as though the only people who actually vote are Democrats. So okay, this won't hurt them among Democrats. What about among everyone who isn't a Democrat?

It gives the GOP a plausible argument that it was a set-up from the beginning.

No way. I mean, who could possibly believe that Democrats were looking for any way possible to remove Trump from office, starting from day one, and that they didn't approach this investigation with an open mind?

I mean, other than just about everyone?

What? Are you saying Mueller is conducting an impartial investigation?

Appearances matter in politics. The idiot Democrats just gave the GOP evidence of a mind-set any sentient person is already aware of.

Just like anyone with a brain already knows Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice; but one needs evidence.

No, i wasn't commenting on Mueller at all. I was commenting on how Democrats viewed the Trump Presidency before he was even inaugurated.

Although no, I don't believe Mueller is comducting an impartial investigation.

Pathetic is The GOP endorsing Roy Moore. Not Democrats voting to impeach a President who is unfit to serve.

Who's going to tell Roy Moore that the stretch of land between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol they call "The Mall" isn't what he thinks it is?

Conyers and now Franken have resigned.

You're up next, GOP. Do the right thing.

Maybe Roy Moore is innocent. He hasn’t admitted to anything or apologized the way Conyers and Franken have. Do I believe he’s innocent, no not really. I do think he probably should’ve dropped out of the race.

Honest question....if Moore gets voted in, and then the ethics committee rules he's unfit to serve....what happens?

I could be wrong but my instincts tell me they want the election won first, and then he gets thrown to the wolves. Assuming if he wins election and is then booted, the seat stays with Republicans.

It sounds like the RNC just gave him $170,000 so they're dug in at this point.

I personally think he should've dropped from race and the republicans should've rallied behind a "write in" candidate. It's embarrassing...but it's politics and this shit makes both sides of the aisle look insane....

They can indeed either refuse to seat Moore, or kick him out. I believe it takes 60 votes.

But yes, they can expel Moore, and then the governor of Alabama would appoint a new senator to serve the balance of the term which ends in 2020 I believe. So, they can eat their cake and have it to.

However, as you point out, POTUS and the RNC supporting him now, after initially retracting support, will really hurt them next year. With the Dems accused of sexual indecency stepping aside, the GOP leaves themselves open to attack next year on the issue of sexual harassment and assault. Moreover, given how heinous the crimes Moore is accused of in relation to the others, their support paints the GOP in the worst possible light.

Yeah, I'm guessing they hope he wins and then oust him...not saying I agree with it.
