Go you, man.
It just seems like your position evolved in fifteen minutes.
Go you, man.
This is what I was talking about. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...-jerusalem-decision-despite-past-support.html
I guess I don't see the point in passing things like that if that's not how they really feel. I don't think the GOP has any intention of being fair in these peace talks. They have an infatuation with Israel that I don't really understand. This decision seems like a very bad idea from what I've read.
Ohh I see. They passed these resolutions because (1) they get sizable donations for whipping these resolutions through Congress; (2) it helps shape Middle East policy; (3) it reaffirms American support for Israel; (4) if they don't support these resolutions, they could be primaried or defeated for being "anti-Israel" which can be made to be synonymous with being antisemitic (see: Ben Shapiro, Alan Dershowitz, etc.)
So, since the resolution is wholly non-binding, and meaningless, you vote for it. Because doing otherwise is fraught with peril. If I were in Congress, I'd probably do the same thing rather than be preemptively labelled an antisemite.
Everyone on Capitol Hill knows this.
Fox News is literally trying to deceive you by publishing a story like this, when, in reality, everyone knows (on the right and left, this isn't a partisan issue) what the consequences of this action will be by the President. And the difference here is that the President has the authority and agency to make such a move; hence, doing the action, rather than handwaving about it, is substantively different -- it's why the Arab nations never gave a damn about nonbinding Congressional resolutions.
Ohh I see.
My bad guys.
My position didn't change. I thought it was a bad move before I got on here, but I was confused why Democrat politicians are upset with the decision after reading the article I posted. It seemed like the move was something they were in favor of in past years, but now I understand. It just seems like your position evolved in fifteen minutes.
And @MediumBaller , just FWIW, before conservative media calls people "anti-Israeli" or worse, for not supporting this move. I'll tell you right now, I'm 100% pro-Israeli. I'm all for Israel's right to exist, to live in peace, and not live under the constant, and real threat, of terrorism or war. But this move actually threatens the safety of both Israelis and Palestinians alike. This provokes unrest, and insurrection in the occupied territories, and it provokes would-be terrorists to act within the borders of Israel-proper.
It's a bad move for ALL parties involved, and is being pushed by hardline elements in Likud, who don't represent the majority of Israelis. As Netyanahu sits at record lows in approval rating, below fucking Donald Trump; this kind of move is designed to shake things up and create a new narrative in the media, the media in both countries -- particularly if the Palestinians predictably respond with demonstrations and likely violence.
Nah, it's not your fault.. Just use this as an example, to help recognize that if you get your information from Fox News, you'll likely be less informed -- because that's the intention of outlets like Fox News .. to make their readership/viewership less able to make critical decisions and instead, to think in lockstep with the GOP. That shit is poison...

This is very important. While everyone will be laughing at this they will miss the bigger takeaway from this. Of course Rep Al Green knew that this wouldn't pass. Everyone in congress knew. What it does do however is gauge where Congress is with the idea of Impeaching Trump. It also dives into the numbers. 58 Democrats voted to Impeach Donald Trump on December 6th 2017. Check and see where the numbers are the next time the bring this forward. Guarantee that the number of yes votes climbs again, and again. It will get to the point where as we inch closer to 2018 midterms and Mueller's investigation continues to progress this will quickly go from a laughable vote to a "Oh shit we might have the numbers vote"
Dems playing the long game. This is just to apply pressure.
The proponents of this vote are setting things up so that a prospective vote on impeachment will become a litmus test in a lot of midterm races.
Whether that will hurt or help Democrats is not certain.
