The proponents of this vote are setting things up so that a prospective vote on impeachment will become a litmus test in a lot of midterm races.

Whether that will hurt or help Democrats is not certain.

No offense to you personally, but I feel that it'll blow up in Dems faces just because of how hard the Republican voter base will dig their heels in.

Pathetic is The GOP endorsing Roy Moore. Not Democrats voting to impeach a President who is unfit to serve.
Haha unfit. Okay. Keep wasting your time focusing on issues that really don’t matter. It why you lost in 16 anyhow.
It’s a no win situation. They should be focusing on the next election and working to build their base again. By all means though, keep kicking the can down the road.

When they cut Medicare? We'll see how hard those Republican voters dig in then. They talk a good talk.

Who is "you"? You must think I'm a leftist or super liberal or whatever other label people are throwing out these days.

Also can you clarify something for me. You said keep focusing my time on issues that doesn't matter in response to me calling the GOP endorsing Roy Moore pathetic. Are you saying that it's okay to vote a pedophile into The united States Senate?

Nothing to do with my statement. Specifically talking in regards to a impeachment litmus.

Only way it doesn't become a thing is if there isn't any major news about the investigation by then.

Incorrect strategy.

I mean...this is a formality that by the mid term elections that there will be major news right?

Who does it hurt?

Demonstrates a lack of good faith regarding the myriad investigations.

That Democrats will try to impeach him whether or not criminal actions are revealed.

It gives the GOP a plausible argument that it was a set-up from the beginning.

To flip your question on its head: What have the Democrats gained? Nothing.

@MediumBaller

Remember when you were confused why some members of Congress walked out on a moment of silence.....

"Two months after the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, the House on Wednesday passed legislation that would allow people to use permits for carrying concealed handguns across state lines while also boosting the background check system."

"Under the House legislation, people with permits for carrying concealed handguns could do so in any state that allows concealed weapons.

People could only use their concealed-carry permits in other states that allow the practice if they are carrying a valid government-issued photo ID and are lawfully licensed to possess a concealed handgun. They would still have to adhere to established state and local laws."

What problems do you have with this bill?

The Democrats. Instead of having a policy platform it turns them into the "anti-Trump" party.

lol The Anit-Trump party? That sounds like something straight from Fox News.

Lack of good faith can never be used in an argument to support Republicans in Congress. They're literally about to allow a pedophile to get elected to The Senate.

lol at The GOP having any argument of this being a setup from the beginning lololol A setup from what and by who and for who? Democrats setup Trump?

To answer what Democrats have gained the answer is pressure. They also are grabbing the attention of their base. No different than Republican talking points that they use all the time to get their base out to vote. Say you are a democrat who is undecided on who to vote for and you don't like Trump. You see a list of Democrats in Congress who are in favor of impeaching Trump and those against it. That will get your attention. just like campaign ads. This vote is no different for Democrats than it is for Republicans who are upset at Republicans that voted for the Tax Bill or voted yes on that failed Healthcare bill. Constituents see this and they remember these things when they vote.

Like, this vote was a political strategy that does not hurt The Democratic Party as a whole. Democrats aren't turned off by a vote to Impeach Trump. They will however be drawn in to who voted against it and why and that is what will put more pressure on Dems in Congress who are in danger of losing their seats. When they go back home their constituents will want answers. They are either going to have to stand up and explain themselves or hide from it and risk losing constituents. Trust me when I tell you they don't want that.

I love how confident you are, but this was an absolutely terrible decision unless we get a smoking gun.
