The Girl With All The Gifts - 5/10

There are times when u come across some Zombie Movies that revive your interest in them. This belongs in that category. I would put this as a serious zombie Sci-Fy that you will want to like but will conclude that it falls short of your expectation.

In the Zombie apocalypse the human colony try to experiment on a group of young zombie children who are very human, but fall back to their zombie habits. The experiment aims to find a cure for zombieism and before the cure is found the colony falls due to zombie attack and the few surviving humans take one zombie child and try to escape.

Shame. The book is really good, what about the movie didn't work?

The character portrayal. Melanie was probably the most complete character and best portrayed. The Scientist, the soldiers, even the teacher - their behaviors very often makes one wonder - what is the motivation? Then the issue with human behaviors during the zombie attacks. One example is when the zombies are attacking a random guy in a speeding jeep comes out of nowhere, stops the jeep gets down with a pistol, takes 3 shots before the zombies gang up on him and bite him. Why stop? Why get down from the jeep? Why were u not properly covered in a zombie apocalypse. Dont get me wrong this is miles better than most of the ridiculous zombie movies, but being one that seems like it is an intelligent zombie movie where one expects a certain standard, the stupid lowering of the bar too occasionally is frustrating.

Ex-Machina and the new Blade Runner are easily the two best sci-fi films I've seen in a long time. Both fantastic films that in their own way are everything sci-fi should be.
