Bias In Media

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Perhaps I'm mistaken, but you seemed to be making your remarks in the specific context of Breitbart:

Or did I misinterpret your meaning?

Because I have to say that there are serious problems with judging mental flexibility and openness to different ideas based on message board posts.

Breitbart is the context in which I raised it because that is the current argument between TyGuy and Gourimoko.

However, the fact that Gour and Ty have the same arguments over and over, and over and over, is the reason I brought it up.

I disagree with the notion that Breitbart should be left off the hook for the flirtation with Nazis. However, what I wrote regarding the futility of the exercise stands. TyGuy is no more likely to convince Gouri he is wrong than vice-versa. Ain't gonna happen.

Now, we can dissect their brains later to see if I am correct or not.

As for this whole reaction to this, it is interesting how people view things as always applicable to them when statements are written very neutrally and go to great lengths to point out that certain predispositions and genetic status is applicable to a small minority of individuals.

It is almost as if they are seeking victim status in everything they read.

There is a gene for that too. Probably.

I think the confusion comes in because you're saying "some people" and others are interpreting that as a general case. But I totally get what you're saying...

There is definitely a biological component to it; and that constrains the ability of some people to engage in higher levels of abstract reasoning necessary to evaluate many of these topics without falling back on preconceived notions, prejudice, and tribal impulse.

I think "some" are missing the point of all this. How far will it go, I don't know.

How soon do you plan on me dying?

It would be interesting to submit our brains for MRI scans to see if/how our brain physiology affects our capability to reason through such topics.

I think genetic determinism is the basis of a lot of ideology like the alt right and nazism.

I don't care who it benefits, it's simply just not as impactful as someone's ethnicity, temperament, experiences, income etc.

And actually, to rebut q tip, "openness" is a personality trait that benefits liberalism, and personality is partially genetic. Then again, the definition of Liberalism isn't the same for everyone and there are plenty of liberal Republicans at the moment.

There is a gene for racism too. Only way to solve problems is probably modifying or eliminating the genes altogether.

And the Nazis weren't wrong, they were just off on their science.

Interesting. Stats say Hispanics and then blacks are most racist in America iirc. I think that data is from the anti defamation league.

Do you have research that I could look at? Do you propose extermination of an inferior subsect of humans?

That is absurd, Ty. And you shouldn't use Salon as a source.

Only some white people have it. And as a consequence, only some will need to have a visit from CRISPR.
That's why I typically go to the barbershop instead.

I think there could be an argument to people subconsciously preferring their own "kind" due to thousands of years of tribalism being necessary for survival. It's dumb to act like it's only white people who are like that though.
Is that why I bang a Chinese girl?

Those people are only racist due to the physiological stresses that occur by being in proximity to those with the FOXP206 gene, identified in mostly folks of European descent, and the Ainu of the Japanese home islands, and some Peruvians.

Absent that, they are normally fine. Not many racist Africans in Africa because they have the highest levels of genetic diversity of all humans.

CRISPR can edit out that deficiency. Or, barring that, it is a simple exercise of eliminating undesirable traits from the gene pool by preventing that gene from being passed down.
