It seems like a lot of people assume Zampese is an idiot when he is in fact a good football mind and good QB coach.

Not all coaches have the personality to be a Coordinator or HC. Let’s hope Zampese joins the staff but in an appropriate role.

By the end of the offseason, we may have a very formidable FO and complete coaching staff, especially dependent on upgrades to certain positional coaches

I would not be shocked at Zampese as OC. I just don't see don't see top tier candidates - or even medium tier - wanting this job considering the thin ice Hue is on.

Why not? If/when Hue is fired midseason, it'd be the OC that becomes interim HC.

(Or at least, it should. I suppose Haslam is certainly stupid enough to promote Gregg).

Based on Hue's statements, he will be the one selecting an OC. At the least, he'll be able to say "no" even if he doesn't get his first choice.

Hue is too smart to sign off on/hire his potential replacement. He knows that's his death warrant. So that leaves young smart guys without the experience to take over as HC, and I don't see any of them coming here.

Zampese would come, and isn't a real threat to take over as HC.

It's an interesting issue. The selection of OC may tell us quite a bit.

But I have to say that if the Browns are at the point where they're going to be choosing an OC whom Hue himself does not want, that is dysfunctional as hell. They should have just fired him if they were going to tie that many strings on to him. If they decide to keep him, then he should get to pick his own offensive coordinator.
 
CAR also is about to lose their DC Steve Wilks to a HC job with either NYG or AZ. So CAR will be looking for a new OC, DC, and QB coach. Those should be some pretty sought after jobs. Way more enticing than coming here. Could effect who's available for us. CAR is a Super Bowl contender.
