2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's the fallacy where you assume we find Jordan Howard instead of James Conner, Semaje Perine, Dont'a Foreman or Joe Mixon.......

It's pretty clear cut how much more of a sure fire prospect you're getting at the top of the draft.

Two things. First, Joe Mixon is better than Saquon Barkley. Second Zeke is better than Saquon as well but you didn't answer the question about how many wins we would have.

Oh I don't know, Zeke?

Cowboys missed the playoffs without him...

Fournette as well. The Jags made a very significant jump this year, and offensively mostly due to adding a stable and electrifying run game to the arsenal.

Zeke wasnt the reason they missed the playoffs.

Fournette is a very good example actually. So is Gurley come to think of it. One thing both have in common though is they have elite defenses, plus Goff was very good this year.

Still leads me to taking Minkah as we need an elite defense. I like Barkley allot, my issue is RB is the shortest life span position and we just have a ton of needs. If we take a rb, needs to be a bit later.

Lets take the Jags way of getting to the playoffs, draft an average qb, get an elite defense, then draft a stud rb.

I just hate to use 2 of 7 years Barkley will have to be productive with the current team. Still need to wait for the rb drafter in the top 10, we have the wrong type of team. Elite CB or Safety means more to us right now.

Look, I like Mixon, but...

I'm pretty sure Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt are EXTREMELY important to their offense as well.

100% agree on gurley, and I do like hunt, but still not convinced they matter like we think.

Hunt led the league, but had less than 1400 yards. He also got something like 95% of hsi teams caries. If you are a run offense, you need a top defense.

Also all of those backs had very good qb's. Alex Smith, Goff, etc.....still a qb driven league.

So overall 8 hits [generous (Hyde is very iffy), Duke and Coleman have never taken a full load ***that's what she said***], and 13 misses over the last 4 drafts. You can also argue for Mixon needing more time...

A whopping 38% hit rate. (not great).

I'm not sure when everyone here became such better talent evaluators than the so called "experts" but they still peg Barkley as the best RB prospect since AP so we ride.

I'm done passing on elite offensive playmakers. Julio/Watkins/The list goes on.

WE RIDE.

The hole was literally 5 yards wide. This isn't the issue with Barkley, I love the dude in space.

When taking value into account, the two best backs in this draft as it pertains to the Browns would likely be Sony Michel and Rashaad Penny.

Both of those guys have the ability to be the perfect back in this offense.

Either of those guys in Round 2-3 and they've got some serious backfield clout.

There are a few of these guys who I would be very happy to have, but they either did not get the chance to play much because there was already an entrenched starter (Conner, Foreman), or they played behind an atrocious offensive line (Mixon). Perine looks like he sucks, but he was also a low-risk pick in the 4th round.

And while I know you were not making an exhaustive list, there are also some good second- and third-day RBs you have left out: Devonta Freeman, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt and Dalvin Cook, to name several. Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Damien Harris, Ronald Jones, Royce Freeman and potentially Derius Guice will likely be available when we pick in the second round.

I think Barkley is going to be a very good RB, but that is such a devalued position in today's NFL.

Yeah I definitely don't think it's fair to count Mixon as a miss. He had his ups and downs, but that Bengals' offense was so atrocious this year and their line so bad that it's hard to take much away from his overall performance.

Vikings got nearly 1000 total yards from McKinnon this year, that's not a miss.

Neither is Kenyan Drake, who is averaging 5 ypc through 2 years and had close to 900 total yards this year in limited touches

Definitely wouldn't call Mixon a miss either. Dominated vs. the Browns and Ravens to finish the year, is running behind an awful line, and dealt with a committee all season.

I'd definitely consider Hyde a hit.

Calling Conner a miss is stupid, he's playing behind LeVeon Bell
