2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have to agree with AZ_ on this argument and you know if we agree on something all other arguments become invalid! :chuckle:

Honestly with this type of draft class and the assets we have in this draft, Barkley makes no sense to me right now at all when there is starting RBs available in round two. Barkley has the highest upside, but at the same time, doesn't do some things right and we cannot take chances on him with that high of a pick.

Also stop sounding like me when it comes to an argument since you are pulling what I do! :p

There are starting RBs available in round 4 too. There are starting RBs in free agency. There's one on the team. I want stars. Have a coach light his ass up for dancing in the backfield. If Barkley listens, he could be at 1,500 to 1,800 yards from scrimmage as a rookie and be the focus of opposing defenses, opening things up for Gordon and Coleman and Njoku.

Michel outshined Chubb in explosive plays, but Chubb isn't too far behind his teammate. I'd be happy with either Georgia back.

Chubb showed his limitations against Bama....he lacks short burst speed. It takes him too long to generate downhill momentum. It was just awful watching Georgia force-feed Chubb when Michel was dicing them up.

I love Michel....215 lbs, is a slick runner between tackles, and has nice top end speed. I think Michel is the superior RB....by far.

A lot of hot takes in here.

While Cleveland Browns fans poop on the maggot filled corpse of Sammy Watkins, you are one click away from reading fans fawning over Poop Dick, like he isn't the Danny Manning of professional football running backs.

Sir do you know how hot the takes you're posting are?

Watkins was on the verge of elite before the foot injury. Never had great QB play.

We've passed on several elite offensive guys since then though.

Also, I think the historical evidence I posted about RBs in the mid rounds shouldn't be classified as a hot take at all. Should be viewed as evidence that there is tiers of prospects, and as you go down the tiers at RB the hit rate gets worse just like with any other position. No matter how "deep" a draft it is... per se...

No any time you and AZ_ agree on a topic I think it actually invalidates his argument and makes the other side stronger.

Thanks Coach!

Here's how I'd rank the RBs from the past 4 drafts. Pardon the orange tint

Your elite, every down, do-it-all RBs are Freeman, Gurley, David Johnson, Elliott, Howard and Hunt. I think Gordon is a notch below, he's treated as such but has never rushed for over 4.0 yards/carry in his 3 years. Lot of production, needs to be more efficient though IMO.

Kamara is obviously incredible, but I don't think I'd put him in that category because I'm not sure if he could hold up to the 250+ carries those guys get every year. He belongs more in an elite offensive weapon category. Coleman and McCaffery are used in similar ways, they'd be a notch below.

If I were a fan of their team, I'd be excited for Fournette, Cook, Drake, and Henry. Alex Collins sneaky had a very good year for Baltimore too. Hyde just had his best year as a pro.

Sources tell Triplethreat that players drafted in Round 1 are typically better than players drafted in Rounds 2 and 3

Big if true

So here's where I say why the fuck everyone thinks we are going to get just as good or better than Barkley by waiting until Rounds 2 and 3. When the more likely result is getting a back who never pans into anything. (Roughly 60%)

So yeah. We can kill that narrative now.

Because value relative to the running back position is less than the value relative to other positions. Especially given that one of Barkley's best assets relative to Cleveland is marginalized by Duke Johnson, who is a dynamic all-purpose back.

There are simply better, more valuable, safer players available who don't have a glaring flaw in the one aspect the Browns need most, downhill running.

For argument's sake, let's say the Browns have to pick Barkley or Fitzpatrick at 4, and then the opposite position at say 33, 35, wherever the Eagles pick lands, or 65. I'd say, especially with this RB class, the Browns are more likely to find an impactful RB at one of those spots than we are of finding an impactful DB at one of those spots, relatively to Barkley/Fitzpatrick.

Then consider that it's nearly impossible to make an argument that Fitzpatrick isn't a wholly more complete prospect at his position than is Barkley.

Really a no brainer to me.
