Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
. Kellen Moore has/had the foot speed of a turtle...great comparison to Mayfield dude. Not to mention a pretty weak arm.

Several years ago. Mel Kiper Jr, the biggest fraud I have ever seen was hyping Jake Locker as the number 1 overall pick when most football people had him as a number 3 or number 4 round pick. Locker, like Rosen, Darnold and Allen couldn't throw a beach ball into the ocean. The Titans fell for the Kiper tomfoolery and drafted him 8th overall. How'd that work out? Last season the Browns drafted another "can't hit the broad side of a barn" quarterback in Kiser...how'd that turn out?

Mayfield had 43 TD's and 6 picks. Thank God Dorsey recognizes talent. When's the last time the Brown had a quarterback that could pin point passes? Welcome to Cleveland Mr. Mayfield.

Cavs2018, have you returned to grace us with your presence?

This thread has turned uglier than the Cavs season. Yikes

If we trade for nick foles, we will have to overpay and we still have hue Jackson as the coach. It doesn't solve any problems because I question hue's ability to adapt an offense around a qb.

Yes, I'm the statman...and I believe that players are what the numbers say they are.

No, you're a fraud who contradicts himself:

You argue that "players are what the numbers say they are", until someone points out a player you don't like, who nevertheless has stellar numbers. Then you ignore the numbers and talk about other things.

You're "the statman" only when it is convenient to your argument.

By that logic, we shouldn't bother drafting or acquiring anyone.

Hey, I'm on record here as hoping the Browns lose as many games as possible as long as Hue is the head coach. But that doesn't mean I don't want them to acquire good players, because hopefully Hue will get fired sooner rather than later. And if/when that happens, I hope the team has enough good talent that the new head coach can start racking up wins.

It wasn't an argument against doing it, just a statement. Obviously if you think foles is the future of the Browns, you trade for him. I don't see the point in trading for a bridge qb though if that's what you believe he is. They're available in FA.

How about that against tosu, tcu x2, and georgia this year in those 4 games he had a 68% completion rate and a 12 to 1 td:int ratio. Is that a sufficient enough to counter that perhaps his numbers arent solely predicated on playing weak opponents
I'm refuting the premise that he's the best QB in the class because his numbers are the best of available QBs. Numbers are fools gold when scouting QBs. You have to pay attention to it but if you base your decision off college stats you are not going to get a good read on the player.

I wouldn’t touch Nick Foles with a 10-foot pole personally.

Not unless you’re bringing Reich and DeFilippo along with him.

BDN would still be able to touch you at a 10-foot distance. :chuckle:

I stand by my statement...you are what the numbers say you are. If you want to lump Kellen Moore into the conversation...knock yourself out.

Draft gurus all knew that Moore had no chance to be an NFL qb because of his molasses shoes. Mayfield is quick, nimble. has a great ability to look off the free safety and many other pro quarterback intangibles. Ummkay slick?

You better get used to it. Mayfield is who Dorsey wants and who Dorsey wants is who the Browns will draft. (The new Exec compares Mayfield to Favre as well) Now kindly gfy.

Mayfield's career passing completion percentage is 68.6 - Sam Darnold's is 64.9. If you compare Mayfield's freshman and sophomore completion % to Darnold's , it's only 66.1 to 64.9.

Saying Darnold "couldn't throw a beach ball into the ocean" while singing the praises of Mayfield for being incredibly accurate is completely bogus.

Last season Mayfield was at 70.5 and Darnold was 63 and change. Darnold had 24 fumbles. If that's who you want have at it. I don't want a thing to do with yet another turnover machine at quarterback here in Cleveland Mr. q ball. And neither does Dorsey.. the only guy that matters.

Kellen Moore had a 74 percent completion percentage in his final year.

Get this guy in Cleveland for cheaper.

You know josh rosen compares very similiar to brady quinn when quinn was coming out of college :chuckle:

edit: the point of this post is two fold. 1) you contribute absolutely nothign to this board by shouting out that baker mayfield is kellen moore every chance you get. Its not only obnoxious, its a ridiculous comparison.

Two, as i pointed out yesterday Mayfield was extremely successful against even the best defenses he played, so while mayfield's entire body of work maybe inflated a bit because of the defenses he still did very well against the good defenses.

Kellen Moore is in the conversation because you go solely on numbers. Except, again, when it leads to a conclusion you don't like.

Draft gurus all knew that Moore had no chance to be an NFL qb because of his molasses shoes.

Why should that matter? He is what is numbers say he is. Right?
