2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
:chuckle:

This argument isn't even close to worth it.

There is one place on planet earth where you'll find that everyone thinks Sony Michel is a better player than SaQuaon Barkley. It certainly isn't the NFL. It's right here on RCF.

Just because NFL Scouts think Barkley is the better prospect doesn't mean he will be the better NFL Player.

You ignore the flaws in his game, you hit "funny" on every boobie response, and the substance in your counterpoints go as far as "NFL scouts say he's the #1 RB, he can catch, he has big play potential". It's been that way for well over a month. If you aren't going to add anything valuable, quit replying to boobie so we can stop this stupid back and forth. We obvious know where both of you stand on Barkley as a prospect. And my stance is I still like Barkley, just not at #4.

Are you just choosing to ignore all the embedded tweets from Jon Ledyard?

Do you want me to start looking for tweets showing Michel doing negative shit like that? You can find it for any prospect EVER.

You keep saying this, and I'm sure there are bad Sony Michel plays.

Maybe do it...

So we can discuss it, as message boards were designed.

It doesn't change the argument about Barkley, or what we've already shown.

No. That's not the argument.

B00bie is actually arguing that Sony Michel is a better player. If you prefer a lesser RB in the second round I fully understand that sentiment/argument.

What's wrong with thinking Barkley is overhyped and isn't RB1?

I've shown repeatedly why I think that will be the case, and if the draft has historically told us anything it's that this is possible.

The fact that you literally can't add anything to the discussion shows it's probably not as far from the truth as you think.

Brandon Weeden isn't better than Russell Wilson because of where they're projected to go in the draft. T-Rich wasn't better than Lamar Miller either.

As someone pointed out earlier, I think getBUCKED, most people on here aren't labeling Barkley as a shit player. He lacks vision. But we aren't talking bad about his overall play. He 100% will be, and should be a 1st round draft selection. But does that make him worthy of the #1 or #4? No.

Zeke was w/o a doubt a top RB prospect with pretty much no flaws. What were his flaws? Something that wasn't his fault - being used too much (besides that fucking MSU game). Maybe that he always wants to hit a big play? But the difference with Zeke over Barkley is that Zeke has the patience and vision when a 74yd run isn't going to happen, he can still find a tiny hole and fall forward in the tackles for a 4-6yd gain. Barkley acts like he is walking across hot coals.

Can he fix that? Yes. Anything can be worked on. You can always get better. But using a top 4 pick on a RB that isn't a CLEAR CUT dominant back over the next 3-4 RB's just isn't smart when you can get another prospect that has very little, if any, flaws.

Now if we trade back a little and gain extra picks from #4, then I don't mind Barkley. He can work on his vision issues. But at #4 when the likes of Minkah or Chubb will be there when you are damn certain you can get the likes of either Michel, Penny, Guice, Chubb in the 2nd? It's just hard TT.

I have been a Barkley fan and will continue to be. Just not at #1 or #4.

Now onto a mock, latest 7-rounder:

1. Rosen
4. Minkah
33. Sony Michel
35. Jaire Alexander
64. Christian Kirk

(just the draft listed above, I would be so fucking thrilled)

65. Kolton Miller - OT (UCLA)
97. Jaylen Samuels - RB/TE/WR (NCST)
119. Josey Jewell - LB (IOWA)
129. Daesean Hamilton - WR (PSU)
150. Trenton Thompson - DL (Georgia)
161. Joe Ostman - Edge (CMU)
193. Dalton Schultz - TE (STAN)

That's great that he says he's a hard worker and has a love for the game, but I think I'm still going to take the word of the anonymous sources and say he hates the game and will quit after a big hit.

What do people think of Kirk? I think the combine could make or break his draft. I see anywhere from mid 1st to late 2nd. Really big spread on him.

100% agree the combine is going to make him a low 1st-2nd round pick or a 3-4th.

The guy has hands and is a great running slot receiver. I thought I read somewhere that he is "quicker than he is fast." However, I just want my slot receiver to be a guy that you have consistent confidence in when throwing to (unlike Coleman).

I would not want to use a 2nd on him.

Was this a 7round mock you participated in or a journalist's mock? The Miller, Samuels, and Jewell picks were also hot fire.

That's great that he says he's a hard worker and has a love for the game, but I think I'm still going to take the word of the anonymous sources and say he hates the game and will quit after a big hit.

So...he's a hard worker and loves the game because he says so in a pre-draft interview?

I mean, regardless of how you feel about him or anyone else, self-serving statements during the pre-draft process are absolutely meaningless.

I know this is a lazy comparison, but when watching Iowa, Jewell reminds me of fellow Hawkeye Christian Kirksey, just a guy that seems to always be around the ball, making or helping on the play.

I know that is such an simple view of the comparison as they both play the same position and went to the same school so please dont beat me up for it, lol

Well they hold more weight than anonymous sources who claim he doesn't love the game, but people seem content to run with that as fact.
