2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's grade each prospect in some areas then. 1 being that prospect is the best in this area, 2 second best, and 3 the worst of the 3 prospects.

Athleticism:
Shiftiness:
Big Play Ability:
Speed:
Power:
Pass Catching Ability:
Vision:
Pass-Blocking:
Ball Security:

Barkley:

Athleticism: 1
Shiftiness: 1
Big Play Ability: 1
Speed: 1
Power: 1
Pass Catching Ability: 1
Vision: 3?
Pass-Blocking: 1
Ball Security: 1

So far you’ve said the only thing he can do that the others can’t is “catch 70 passes.”

Maybe you want to take another swing at what separates him from Guice or Michel?

Your slant on Barkley is getting ridiculous. I completely agree on passing on Barkley due to value, but Barkley is indeed RB1 in this draft. Obviously we’re all entitled to our opinions, but many respected scouts have him as their #1 overall prospect in a draft with more than a few blue chippers - Nelson, Chubb, Barkley, Minkah, Rosen, Darnold in any order. He needs to be utilized correctly and improve with his discipline, but he has the most talent and character is reportedly off the charts. There hasn’t been a better athlete at this position in many, many years. He is a true freak of nature and will even outclass the NFL athletes. I also think his game fits the modern NFL perfectly and will be a great chess piece for whoever lands him.

That being said, give me Michel/Guice at #33 or #35.

Barkley:

Athleticism: t1 (Michel)
Shiftiness: 2 (Michel)
Big Play Ability: 1
Speed: 2 (Michel)
Power: 3 (Penny, Chubb)
Pass Catching Ability: 1
Vision: 4
Pass-Blocking: 3
Ball Security: t1

Even with a full field of vision, stuff like this consistently happens.

I wouldn't deal the Brooklyn pick for Saquon.

And Barkley has far more elite traits at the RB position than anyone else in this draft.

That's true. He's an absolute freak athletically. But without vision, a whole lot of that physical talent gets wasted.

Though he wasn't nearly as fast as Barkley,Trent Richardson still had plenty of power and speed to be successful in the pros. But it wasn't Richardson's lack of speed that killed his career. It was the inability to see/spot holes as they were developing, and therefore missing them and leaving yards on the field on too many plays.

Barkley is enough of a physical freak to have more success than that no matter what, but I'll bet he doesn't end up being the best back in this class.

100 percent.

Barkley will be able to avoid contact in the NFL completely so the in-between-the-tackles argument against him is pointless.

Saying all the right things now.

His thoughts on being able to focus on the game now that school is no longer in the picture is telling. For all the crap floating around about this love for the game, guys like him really become workaholics when they can zero-in on one thing.

It's almost as if Triplethreat doesn't add anything of substance to his arguments

:chuckle:

This argument isn't even close to worth it.

There is one place on planet earth where you'll find that everyone thinks Sony Michel is a better player than SaQuaon Barkley. It certainly isn't the NFL. It's right here on RCF.

This definitely is not the only place where people prefer Sony Michel in the 2nd round to Barkley in the top 5.

Barkley is a real good prospect. But he is nowhere near Zeke as a prospect. Simply put, Barkley's lack of vision can make him nothing more than a satellite back in the NFL. That is too much of a risk to use on a top 5 pick.

Are you just choosing to ignore all the embedded tweets from Jon Ledyard?

No. That's not the argument.

B00bie is actually arguing that Sony Michel is a better player. If you prefer a lesser RB in the second round I fully understand that sentiment/argument.
