When Altman visited with James in the Cavaliers' practice facility a week ago, he let him know that there were still talks alive with the LA Clippers on a Jordan deal. What's more, there was significant progress: Altman had ownership approval to send the Clippers Jae Crowder, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert and the Cavs' 2018 first-round pick for Jordan. The Clippers were willing to accept the trade, but on one significant condition.
Clippers general manager Michael Winger explained to Altman that LA didn't want another shooting guard. He hoped to find a third team that would take Shumpert and his $21 million with draft compensation, and have the Clippers get a center back.
(1) Michael B Jordan will play Koby Altman in a movie titled "Trading Day"
(2) Kings front office is worse than anyone ever thought. Browns FO from last season that botched the AJ McCarron trade are geniuses in comparison. How you make a deal as a professional then randomly add two busts to a deal last minute while dealing with two NBA GM's is some laughable stuff.
(3) Thank god a rookie GM had an ally Assistant GM Justin Zanek or else nothing happens with their GM who just seemed really unhappy LMAO (See Kings)
(4) Interesting debate but if the DJ trade happens + the 1st, then we don't get Clarkson/Nance and Hood since Crowder and 1st were crucial outgoing assets. Even with that possible trade (while keeping the pick) it was clear Koby/Dan weren't interested in paying DJ 100 million +. Major props to Dan for taking on a ton of salary and not making it easy for LeBron to leave during the summer.
Damn give this man the award already (Morey and Ainge can fight for 2nd lol)
Kyrie ---> IT/Crowder/Zizic/Nets unprotected 1st ---> Clarkson/Nance/Hood/Zizic/Nets unprotected 1st
some people will hate and say he hit the undo button on his previous trade but considering the options were limited during the summer, I think we made out like bandits. The big fish is obviously the Nets pick while improving the depth, we're looking at super role players in Clarkson/Hill and two guys who have potential for more in Hood and Nance. I also think these moves were made with Cedi in mind as well which is why Wade was the odd man out.
