Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where is all this, "The NFL thinks he's a great prospect" stuff coming from? All I hear that from is Mel Kiper and the mock draft pundits like him that keep mocking Allen to the Browns for some inexplicable reason.

What is the indicator that Josh Allen is going top 5, top 10, or even in the first round? Because he is being mocked there?

Well...isn't that true for every prospect? GM's don't come out and say "I'm taking this guy at No. 3". All they basically give us are generic comments in which they basically praise everyone. So, we rely on leaks/outside evaluators to tell us what NFL teams actually think of them. Obviously, some of us form our own opinions on how good someone is, but that still isn't the same as knowing what the NFL teams themselves think of each prospect.

Who in the NFL considers him a top prospect. What NFL execs are coming out and telling us he's a top prospect? That's my whole point. If the argument for why he should be considered #1, is that "NFL guys are considering him #1!"....that is far from convincing, to me. And it wouldn't be convincing to him, either.
First off tell me any NFL exec who has come out and talked openly about any prospect they are thinking of drafting. It is always a journalist or draft guru who says he has talked to different NFL execs. So that blows that theory out of the water. NFL execs don't need the print, they are already getting paid. And part of that is to not let other teams know who they are interested. Don't you find it suspicious that the NFL execs are never named? And if they do come out and say anything, it will be things like Dorset puts out. Things like Josh Allen is a nice kid. Or Darnold had some fumbling issues but that is fixable. Then a lot of you guys come on here and try and decipher what he meant by it. Did Dorsey take a crap at 9:00 am and not 10:13 am , what does it mean? I bet it means Allen is out and Darnold
is in because he had an early bowel movement and AZ will stay off my (Dorsey's) ass. But if it was at 10:13 am then it means he picked Allen because he knew Chris wanted anyone but Allen and he wanted to screw with Chris.

And if you haven't read or watched that Allen is now in the majority of being drafted by the Browns #1, then you haven't been reading or watching much tv. At least about the NFL draft. Yesterday on the Rich Eisen show, Trent Diller and his associate who own a company (Science and Soul) that diagnose quarterbacks throwing motion, speed of ball , arm release , and other functions, talked about Allen and what he brings to the table. Get on Google and type in The Rich Eisen Show. Look at yesterday's show and educate yourself a little on Josh Allen. Pretty good stuff if you like him or not.

I totally agree with this. I think Mayfield is MUCH higher on their board than the media thinks. I also think Allen is a total smoke screen. If the Browns take Mayfield #1 overall that would be a masterful job of playing the disinformation game. I don't think he's the correct pick at #1, I think Darnold or Rosen are better than he is. However; Mayfield has the potential in my opinion to be the best QB from this draft. Darnold and Rosen IMO have a higher chance at it than Mayfield but I can see scenarios where he is. I would be absolutely shocked if Allen is the best QB from this class (or even the 2nd best).

I'd go so far as to see that I'd be more surprised at Rosen than Mayfield. I think Dorsey places a high value on leadership, and how much a QB is liked/respected by teammates. Mayfield and Darnold are just more the usual extroverted/leadership types than is a more cerebral guy like Rosen.

I do think that if Rosen slips at all, the Pats will mortgage everything they've got to try to get him.

Agree with this completely.

Disagree with that. Allen does have some supporters -- I think some people believe he is being devalued too much. There is a lot of dogmatic stuff out there (and in here) claiming that Allen won't be successful. So, there's some pushback.

I think he does have a decent chance to be successful -- just probably not as high a chance as with some of the other guys. But there isn't anything close to a majority that believe the Browns will take him number one.

Well, how about this: is it out of the question that he ends up sliding on draft night or is that just an impossibility in today's QB driven league? I'm not trying to rip anyone who wants to shill for Allen, fuck it, that's fine- but it's a legitimate question. Where is all this, "The NFL thinks he's a great prospect" stuff coming from? I think anyone in this draft of quarterbacks can slide down real easily except for Darnold. He goes in the first two qb's taken in my opinion.

PS - In before the Brandon Weeden comparison.

I will be quite alright if he's picked #1 or #4 by us. Personally, I'd be more concerned with snagging Barkley and drafting the next best QB available at #4. But, I'm sure the Browns will be set on their QB @ #1.

This has been such an odd year for QBs.

At this point I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if any of 4 different guys are the first one selected.

And then based on who is the first one selected I feel like the second one selected could still be one of 3 different guys.

Like if you tell me any order of Allen, Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold that happened on draft day I wouldn't be surprised. That's really such a weird thing usually by this time you can say with a lot of confidence who the first QB off the board will be.

Watch the Rich Eisen show with Palmer on it. That was pretty good and they are doing polls and websites. It suprised me. Plus all the talking heads on TV are gravitating to it also. I think part of that is that they are jumping on the bandwagon. I don't know if they necessarily believe it. Same with draft gurus, most are saying it also. Some are still holding out. I personally have no idea who is going #1. I think Allen has the most upside, but out of the 4 he needs to sit and learn the most.

Did everyone watch the Rich Eisen show with Josh Allen's personal QB coach on it.

Glowing reviews.
