I watched it. But what was interesting was what they didn't say. They said the ball goes where he wants it to go. Okay...then why all the incompletions? Why all the bad throws where he missed his received by miles? I thought the Weeden comparison they made in terms of arm strength/quick release was interesting. Weeden also had a cannon, and the ball went where he wanted it to go. Yet...he was inaccurate in terms of actually hitting his receivers. Why? And why shouldn't we worry about the exact same thing with Allen?
And yes, I'm well aware that receivers can drop passes, but there are a lot of bad passes by Allen (and by Weeden, for that matter) that weren't legitimate drops by receivers. But they didn't discuss that at all. We just got a vague reference by Dilfer that there were "legitimate concerns" about Allen on tape. But there was zero discussions about what those concerns were, and it stuck out like a sore thumb. So in fairness, that interview really wasn't an overall evaluation of Allen as a QB. It was a discussion of just his strengths as QB.
I didn't see any mention of polls or websites on that show, nor have I seen a majority of pundits claiming he's going to the Browns No. 1 overall.
