2018 NBA Playoffs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree, but we did leave ourselves with literally no players who can get to the rim after trading Rose and Wade at the same time.

I was against the Wade move.
I too was against the Wade move. I get there were more things going on, but the downgrade from playoff Wade to Hood is just way too large to not try to work it out.

And a big reason that was given was you don't want to upset LeBron by not doing right by Wade, but honestly I've come to the point where I think there's just no pleasing LeBron. But if there is pleasing LeBron it'll be done with winning and not nice gestures

And Wade was very conductive to winning

If Minnesota loses this series, what more can they realistically do to contend? They have two all-stars in Butler and KAT, a former one in Teague, a potential one in Wiggins and their bench isn't bad.

More three point shooters?

They really need Towns to make "the leap". That's their only hope at anything more than 1st or 2nd round fodder, IMO. Because they're stuck with Wiggins too. And at least Towns making another leap is more realistic than Wiggins ever making any leap.

He’s looking pretty good to me in the playoffs so far.. now Minnesota as a team.. that’s a different story.. but I know we could use some of that scoring from D rose off the bench if we still had him right now.. that’s for damn sure..
Cmon man, D Rose is garbage. His defense is putrid. Theres a reason nobody wants him.

He also left the team for an indefinite period of time because he needed a break from his job

People are killing me with this "any move the Cavs make is always the wrong one" mentality

They chose to dump a chronically injured Rose, dump an aging vet in Wade for a second rd pick, and used it to acquire a chronically injured George Hill.

I’m not going revisionist here, bc I bashed the moves at the time.

We could 100% use a guy like Rose who could be surrounded by Love, LeBron, Korver, and JR Smith. The space for him to operate would’ve elevated his game, but:

1. He wasn’t given enough time
2. The lineups he got put in were pure trash

And Wade faced the same challenges and still played relatively well IMO.

Both of these guys would’ve been huge right now, and IMO, we didn’t get anywhere close back in value as to what we gave up. Hill was the 9th worst rated defensive PG in league this year and largely outplayed by a 19 year old rookie.

It’s frustrating for me to see these guys do exactly what we expected them to do come playoff time.....just for different teams.

What makes the sting burn even more is that between the two of them Wade and Rose are making what, 3 million per a year? Hill is making more than 6x that amount for, let's be honest here, less than half the impact.

Wade and, to a lesser degree, Rose, would have certainly made our push through the Eastern Conference less of a slog than it's looking to be.

I still have no idea why the FO chose to pursue Hill as aggressively as they did. Dude's 31 and his contract is obscene.

I get the logic behind it, but unless you were going to pair the moves we made with a coaching change, that emphasized a renewed focus on defense, it was worthless.

With what we currently have at PG, Rose would be an immediate upgrade. As a starter or off the bench....name it. His ability to attack rim is exactly what the Cavs need from that poisition right now.

What does anyone expect when he was paired with Wade in the second unit....

Like, this shit was not hard to figure out....our roster management was just straight trash.

Rose should’ve been playing next to JR Smith either as a starter or in second unit, and at the time IT3 should’ve been playing next to Wade in the starting lineup or second unit.

They just destroyed any court flexibility with how they managed roles/minutes.

I said it then to little reaction. Rose has shown plus athleticism all year...he struggled with his midrange, and would then force shots at rim.

In Minny he gets paired with Jeff Teague or Jamal Crawford who both stretch court and can both attack off bounce. It’s all Derek needed.....our shitty ass coaches/organization couldn’t figure this riddle out.

God help us.

Oh I agree with everything and was right there with you man supporting him.. and I’ve never liked d rose either but I thought he would have been good for us if we used him right.. especially for the playoffs

Their system doesn’t match the athletes they have IMO. Thibs is good at changing culture, but his offense is straight 1990’s New York Knicks bullshit.

Minny should be playing at a faster tempo taking advantage of their insane athleticism, and get guys like Butler, KAT, and Wiggins more easy looks in transition.

I’d be surprised if Thibs is on their sideline next year. He will be coaching somewhere, just not Minny.

The funny thing is, Thibs would prob be a good fit for what CLE should be. ISO-heavy offense that puts huge amounts of effort into defense.

The best explanation for what we did at the trade deadline is that Koby and the FO genuinely, honestly thought that Hill/Hood/Clarkson would actually be a good, winning, playoff ready back court, when coached by Lue. Unfortunately that says bad things about Koby's ability to judge talent.

As a casual fan I bought into that idea for a few games soon after the deadline, I'll admit it. But I'm not paid millions to be a professional talent evaluator at the highest level

Would you take Thibs if we go into rebuild mode?

I crushed the trades as they happened, and then relented after two games seeing a reinvigorated team that seemingly lost a lot of baggage and replaced it with youthful energy.

Unfortunately, all it took was several weeks for that “new car smell” to be absolutely eroded as these guys slipped into whatever system/culture this team has.

Sucks they'll lose in round 2 but I really enjoy watching the Utah Jazz. So fucking scrappy....

Quin Snyder might be a top-5 coach in the NBA. He's squeezed every ounce of talent out of this roster and they found a bonafide star in Donovan Mitchell.
