LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think LeBron is worth so much to the franchise in terms of
-sponsorship
-ticket sales
-tv dollars
-marketing for the q.
-marketing for quicken loans, fathead
-the downtown economy
(all of this by proxy)

That yes. You listen to the man and get him what he wants. Luxury Cap be damned? I'm sure Gilbert comes out on top in this.

This is an economic game here.

When he hangs it up? you can skimp it to hell and just tank for 5 years. But you need to maximize the value you're going to get now.

No shit. If I’m Gilbert I do whatever it takes to get Bron to re-sign and then I’m putting the franchise on the market. The value will never be higher.

I mean, there’s no logical reason Lebron wouldn’t have committed the past off season when there were players to be had if he was going to stay. He wouldn’t have wasted a year of his prime. When he wants to be somewhere he is recruiting others. There’s leverage, then there’s cutting your own throat. If he stays, he will have done the latter the past year. Makes no sense. Still think he’s 95% gone and all this is just PR. I would love to be wrong, but his actions over the past year make no sense whatsoever if he has plans to stay. They just don’t.

I think if we have to give up Love and #8 for Kawhi, we have to get #18 back from the Spurs. With how the depth is situated in this draft that 10 spot jump is huge for the Spurs. That 10 spot jump and Love seems like proper value for Kawhi.

#18 can possibly get us PG13 if he opts in and demands a trade to the Cavs. If that isn't on the table #18, Hill, Jr, and Korver for Kemba, Marvin Willians and Batum might be enough future cap relief with #18 to get it done. Hornets can flip Korver to a contender for addition value.

If we did the Hornets trade the regular season lineup could be Kemba, Lebron, Kawhi, Marvin Williams, and TT/Nance. LeBron could slot up to PF for the playoffs and Batum, Hood, or Cedi could be the starter at SG.

I don't remember this going down like that at all.

I remember Indiana cockblocking us. I don't remember this.

This is the time of year for total misinformation. Like, I believe we could have possibly had a Love for George trade if Lebron reupped, but if Indiana wanted that trade, why would Lebron’s refusal to commit cause them to back out? Might cause George to back out, but why would Gilbert then react? Doesn’t even make sense. It was rumored this is what pissed off Kyrie, as he seems the one Indiana would likely have wanted. You can’t trust anything coming out of Indiana as they have a total incentive to see Lebron leave and go west with an up and coming team that can’t get past him.

Even the most respected reporters are played at this time of year. Every GM has an agenda.

There’s a source within the Cavs organization that posts over on the Ohio state insiders board over at rivals.com.

He was posting at 1am yesterday, way before any of this stuff made Twitter that the Cavs and spurs were getting pretty hot and heavy on trade talks.

However he was saying the Cavs-spurs deal was actually a 3 or 4 team trade possibly with the Cavs taking on multiple BAD contracts and netting Kawai.

The Cavs are adamant about maintaining a big 3 of love Lebron and Kawai or some variation of a big 3 involving Lebron and Kawai.

Not even going to speculate what it will take from the Cavs to get Kawhi. What I do believe is that if Pop believes keeping him is not in the cards, his respect for LeBron will play into this, and he will send Kawhi to Cleveland and say "Go beat the damn Warriors."

It’s a great fucking deal for the spurs.

The market for Kawhi sucks. The Celtics and Sixers aren’t offering jack because they know the guy wants to be in LA.

For the Cavs, they’ve got nothing to lose.

Ok latest from Cavs insider over at OSU board.

Cavs trying to get a deal done with Memphis for 4th pick. That deal would involve taking on chandler parsons.

Cavs would send that pick and 8th pick for Kawai.

Spurs like that deal but are waiting to see if they can pry any of the big 4 young studs from Boston or philly.

So far philly and Boston are not offering that.

If spurs can’t get them, the Cavs are in a good position for Kawai.

If not Kawai deal, then Cavs will probably execute kemba-Marvin Williams deal for the pick.

Cavs are holding very firm on not packaging love and 8th pick for simply one stud.

Am hoping the Celtics don't add Brown or it's over for everyone. After Kyrie they must be cautious of betting their assets on disgruntled players. Sure they fleeced us but that trade hasn't actually started paying dividends till Kyrie resigns and/or completes a full postseason or they might just have been better off keeping the 8th pick.

Imagine the added uncertainty of adding an unresigned Kawhi and losing Brown. Too much risk for most GMs

Yeah there's always one side on this trade that didn't happen.
But the thing no one is saying is that the Pacers backed out.
The speculation in there was a bit of Lebron not committing but also the thing of the Pacers not wanting to ship PG within their own division to their ready made championship foe...why would you make them stronger???
I think Denver was a third team in that mix also, which they would have taken Love..something like that.

But on the Irving front, I think his name was mentioned before that in some sort if rumored deal.
And Gilbert was miffed at the Pacers as his comment on what they received wouldn't have been better than what the Cavs were offering.
