Henceforth I dub thee, Kevin Love, "Mr. Cavalier."

It is well deserved and it will rankle LeBron who decided a little Tinseltown glitter was worth more than the most glorious legacy.

Lebron could have both. Legacy and glitter He left us twice. I would never put a statue up for him.

I like the idea by whoever said that we should still put up a statue...but the statue should be of LeBron, Kyrie, and Love.

LBJ should be recognized with more than just a jersey retirement for being the best player in the history of the franchise and a key cog in delivering us our only title...but having to share that spotlight with Kyrie and Love as well would piss him off so much :chuckle:

I think it’s perfect.

My only regret is not being able to like this post, and award it the Winner as well! The sooner the better, what great PR for the franchise. A location that every visiting player will see it.

3 statues:
The Block
The Shot
The Stop

and then a fourth statue of JR shirtless in a car

This 110%. We got a championship, but LeBron also sealed his legacy. In turn he was given everything he asked for and he has his jersey retirement to look forward to.

The way I look at it, there were three ways LeBron could have gotten a statue: a) won multiple titles here b) played out the rest of his career here c) both a and b, obviously.

Thank you LeBron, but you don't get a statue for 1 title after leaving us twice.
I agree with the idea of erecting a statue of "the big three" to commemorate the 2016 championship.

This was my idea. Just want people to remember

So, realistically, the Cavs had two broad options when LeBron left:

1) trade away every vet possible and tank. Hope to keep your pick this year and next year. Ideally add 3-5 young guys in the next two draft and hope that between them, Sexton, Zizic, and Cedi, you find two all-star talents and three guys that can be playoff contributors.

2) try to field a competitive team while developing your young talent. Open yourself up for free agency next year, and if you punt there, have a strategy to quickly launch into a true tank.

Personally, I like option #2 more, and I think the Cavs did as well when they re-signed Love.

First, it will be easier to rebuild when we do not have the cloud of owing Atlanta our first. Give it up this summer and then you are free of commitments. You will also have a lot of cap room to emulate the Hinkie strategy.

Second, and more importantly, Love’s basketball IQ and skillset make him an ideal pairing next to our three developing youngsters. It will let Sexton be bad while still playing a lot of minutes and developing. Moreover, Love’s ability to space and operate at the elbow is ideal for both Cedi and Zizic.

Ultimately, I think the Cavs trying to compete this year opens up more doors next year and beyond. I also believe that it is good for the development of our young guys.
