2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To the people trashing Harper because of his .220 batting average, he's still one of the better hitters in the game. He's having a bad year, but obviously he's a MASSIVE upgrade over what we currently have in CF/RF.

Plus, his bad year up to this point doesn't necessarily mean he will continue to play at the same level. I think his strikeouts will stay high, but we'll see his batting average rise, as his BABIP (.241) has been pretty bad this year compared to his career (.315) and the league average (around .300).

I wouldn't give up McKenzie, Bieber, Nolan... but I'd probably do something around Chang or, preferably, Benson.

Benson has dropped big time as a prospect this season. There 2nd and 3rd prospects are both left side infielders and they have Soto in the pros and Robles is knocking on the door in the OF. They badly need young starting pitching and thats who they want to trade Harper for.

Now if we have to trade either Bieber or McKenzie to get Harper, do you think we could get a Gio Gonzalez back? That would give us a really good veteran SP to fill out our final spot in the rotation.

At the moment, I feel they need a 2B prospect and a starting Pitcher back for harper, So my guess would be Bieber, Chang, Hentges/Morgan, Capel/Diaz and a PBNL for Harper and Gonzalez (maybe some cash swinging our way). That would be a bare minimum trade that may be accepted, but even that may be on the low end/not even get the deal done.

I'll actually be surprised if Salazar ever pitches in the MLB again. Feel like he'll either blow his arm out in spring training or his next rehab assignment, or just never work his way back into our rotation that'll feature guys like Kluber, Bauer, Clevinger, Carrasco, Bieber, McKenzie, Plutko, etc.

Hindsight is a bitch, but we should've moved him a few years ago.

I tend to agree. But for the brief moment that he was healthy, I felt his stuff was probably the best on the staff. He gave a glimpse, and it was ace stuff.

Why does people take offense to others wanting BiG NaMeZ?

At least enjoy an chuckle at one believing in a dream.

We tried for Machado

We tried for Harper

Now here's Cameron Maybin

Meanwhile, I'm just looking for the team to get better today. Cheers to that.

We can legitmately get Harper, we have the prospects to do it! Now should we? Thats what the FO is debating. Id say if we were the yankees with the ability to spend money, then I would do it in a heartbeat, but we aren't so prospects are worth a lot more to a small market team.

The question is where do they see Bieber in the next two to three years? Teams like the Indians have to protect their prospects, but they are stocked with young arms (hell just read the posts on this site- there’s multiple young stud arms).
Harper is a rental. No doubt. But the balancing act of going all in vs staying competitive is at play.
Put him in this lineup and this team is ready to make a major push. He gets two months without a ton of pressure to get ready.
It’s definitely tempting.

Becareful with your "ALL IN" posts, it might get chastised.

I don't think he would this season since I would hope anyone who has baseball knowledge in here, with a whole bunch of the nucleus of players here, I would think they know as well as anyone we don't have a lot of time left to win it all especially when the teams like the Yankees and Houston are getting better. We do have to kind of go all in a way.

Man, getting Dietrich home would be sweet. I just can’t imagine the cost to get any more than one of these guys, though.

Dietrich to me is slightly overrated since he doesn't have the consistent numbers with the bat, but he can play mostly anywhere in the field. Bat wise I don't think he is much of an upgrade, his versatility would be nice though from the bench! Though most of his defensive numbers are negative sadly. Wagner wouldn't cost much, but Barraclough could since he has years of control and has been a solid relief pitcher for the marlins.

Absolutely will
Remember when the small market Royals went all in and traded their top draft pick for Cueto? Which resulted in a WS win and Cueto twirling a complete game. Sometimes you gotta do what you have to do. Yeah, I get it, Harper would have 20 meaningful at bats, but that one HR could mean something.

I'm legitimately torn on this.

If the cost isn't insane, I'd obviously add Harper.

But I'm not overly interested in giving up a *massive* haul for the guy considering how big of a lead the Indians already have in the division. They clearly don't need him to make the playoffs and it would just be really tough to give up multiple high end prospects for a guy who might only give you 20 meaningful at bats in the ALDS.

Now obviously none of us would give a shit about losing McKenzie or Bieber if they win the World Series. If Bryce was producing like he did last year or 2015, it would be a total a no-brainer. But this year's version is producing at a significantly worse clip from those two years.

He'd still be a massive upgrade over the flotsam and jetsam the Indians have trotted out there in the CF/RF spots this year.
