Koby Altman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They had the worst record in the league the four year years LeBron was gone, 97-215, and won the lottery three times. They have the worst record in the NBA this year. Dan's ego led him to signing an injury-prone Kevin Love to a long term deal when he should've dealt him for picks or something. I'm a LeBron fan but I wish he had stayed in Cleveland. The Cavs deserve better than Dan Gilbert.

I think the years after LeBron were more on Chris Grant than Gilbert. Chris Grant rehired Mike Brown, their friendship is well documented. Gilbert is on the record on players he liked before the draft, we didn't draft those guys. He said he like Derrick Williams alot and wanted to find a way to move up from 4 to 2 to get him. Grossi said Gilbert was talking about Oladipo before the lottery and Noel after on the plane. I also think Gilbert has said how much they like MKG in the Dion draft.

The only two moves I think we have confirmation that Gilbert really pushed for were the signing of Jarrett Jack and buying the pick to get Kay Felder. Both bad moves but I don't think they hurt the organization in a massive way.

We would probably be better if Gilbert was willing to give up all power and let a vet GM just run everything but I will counter that with, would Gilbert have been willing to spend like he did to get us to 4 straight finals?

We complain when we let lebron hold us hostage and know we complain because we did not let him hold us hostage. It's easy for him to say keep Kyrie, if it dont work he leaves. is there a correct choice with a guy that wants, and wants but will not commit. Gilbert will pay to get players here. they just do not want to be in ohio. get another owner and you are not going to see a change except maybe money. We should of promised Kyrie we would not resign Lebron.

Because what harm comes from trusting LeBron? If he burns you then so be it, another LeBron isn't coming through that door again. You do what you have to do to keep him happy. Trading your star point guard after the best player in franchise history tells you not to trade him, and especially to the team he tells you not to trade him to, is incompetence of the highest order. And it's not like the Cavs got a haul. They traded for a 5'9 point guard with a bum hip, an undersized wing and a mid-lottery pick.
Because of his business interests Lebron was going to la no matter what Irving did. Sure Irving could read the tea leaves and was not going to be left holding the bag. Irving told Cavs either trade him or he would have surgery. You can say the trade sucked but Cavs had little choice

Just because he has had success in business doesn't mean he's a good basketball owner. His franchise has been the worst in the league minus the time he's had LeBron.
He owns a team in a market looked at as a shithole. How did all of the cav owners before him do ? How did the owners at minn. Milwaukee. Sacramento Portland and every other small market team. Gilbert is the only owner in all cleveland sports to win a title and he still gets shit on. He certainly is not perfect and is irritating at times but I only remember one parade in my lifetime

Id much rather have a Pacers history than a Kings like history. Indy has almost never bottomed out. In the last 30 or so years, I think theyve been below .500 maybe 10 times (forgot what I read). That is the sort of culture we need to develop. Instead of creating a bunch of losers every few years because we cant identify talent for shit.

Still, the Kings have been garbage for decades.
With all of the money Gilbert has spent I think he deserves more than the Cavs fan. He can just spend the min and be the dolans

Gilbert won a title because LeBron was born in Akron, Ohio. That's really what it comes down to. If he was born in some other city in some other state then he wouldn't have came back. Gilbert being willing to spend obviously helped, but he had nothing to do with the #1 reason why the Cavs won that title.

I think the Pacer have been gifted with good luck as much as being good at drafting. Granger and Paul George guys that were mid-1st round picks that ended up being stars. It's just as much about identifying talent as those guys falling into their lap. Oladipo now falling into their lap too after playing with Westbrook and changing his whole mentality of how to play the game is more luck then anything.

I would love to have the luck and talent evaluation of the Pacers. Sometimes an organization is shaped by one or two spots up or down in draft position.

I mean we got lucky to get a guy like Kyrie, him being here as well as our ability to trade for Love was the reason why LeBron decided to come back. Things could of been a lot worse, we could of been stuck with a core of Brandon Knight and Derrick Williams:chuckle:

I agree. Of course it was Lebron. But Lebron leaving. And coming back and leaving would be impossible for any organization to deal with
He left now and we are left with a carcass again although I think somewhat better than last time.
But lbj saying trading Irving was the reason he left is utter bs. Irving wanted out because of Lebron. And Lebron wanted to be in LA. For biz and personal reasons. Just my opinion but savannah stayed in the background and raised the kids. Kids are older now and she rightfully wants to be out there in the limelight as well. Nothing wrong with it but there is no lights in cleveland

This is true but every bad and good decision by the organization leads up to us winning the championship in 2016. The Bennett pick is well documented but we might not have the number 1 pick to get Wiggins if that is even an average player. Varajeo tearing his Achilles leads to us getting Frye, no way we move AV if he isn't hurt.

If you just think of all the players Chris Grant wasn't able to resign or let go after playing well for us, the whole roster could have been different. Livingston, Wayne Ellington, CJ Miles, Gee, Hawes, and Speights could have been solid parts of our rotation in 2014-2015. Maybe we don't trade for Frye (Hawes), or JR/Shump (Ellington/Miles/Gee). Speights and Livington wouldnt have been part of the Warriors rotation either. If we have Livingston, do we play Delly or is he even on the roster.

I wonder if Koby had a conversation with Pointer about getting his NBA shot after the trade deadline if he played on the charge. He seem to play well enough in Europe to get on another European team. It seems odd to end up on the Charge.
I don’t think he is wasting his time worrying about Pointer. He will be lucky to ever be a full time NBA player. Guys like him come out every single year in the draft, and the majority don’t stick in the NBA.

You are most likely right. I just found it odd that he is back on the Charge. Pointer seem to get his 3 point shot and handles to a decent point in Europe. I thought he could been given his chance at the NBA once we have roster spots open. How he is playing in Canton though might change the organizations mind when that time comes.

I might watch some Charge games to see how him and Preston are actually playing vs relying on box scores. Pointer might look real good on defense and it could never show up on box scores.

Exactly. If we move up one spot to the 3rd pick in the Dion draft, we most likely pick Beal but if we got the 2nd pick we probably would have take MKG.

Who know who we pick at #2 or #3 in the Bennett draft. Maybe the organization says Oladipo is worthy of the #2 pick regardless of who is taken #1.
