Koby Altman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m usually a Gilbert supporter, but damn. Fuck Gilbert if that shit is true.

And why would Gilbert trust Lebron
Because what harm comes from trusting LeBron? If he burns you then so be it, another LeBron isn't coming through that door again. You do what you have to do to keep him happy. Trading your star point guard after the best player in franchise history tells you not to trade him, and especially to the team he tells you not to trade him to, is incompetence of the highest order. And it's not like the Cavs got a haul. They traded for a 5'9 point guard with a bum hip, an undersized wing and a mid-lottery pick.

The man has built an empire. Not sure he is over his skis on much. Think most people are just jealous
Just because he has had success in business doesn't mean he's a good basketball owner. His franchise has been the worst in the league minus the time he's had LeBron.

Kyrie threaten to have knee surgery and sit out the year so they had to trade him. The Boston trade sucked but it wasn't like LeBron couldn't have helped to get a better player than IT into the organization. Let's not forget Bledsoe forces his way out of Phoenix only a couple week after the Kyrie trade. Bledsoe is a Rich Paul client. Time it when the Kyrie wanting out news breaks and they becomes likely trade partners or a 3 way deal with Boston. Especially when the IT medical report comes out, if LeBron wanted Bledsoe here that was perfect timing to get Bledsoe to ask for a trade.

off topic
When do you think Pointer is going to finally flash to live up to the honor of being your username lol? Do you have 2021 circled on your calander?

Just got 30 minutes on the charge and scored 2 points...so you tell me.

Kyrie had two years left on his deal so you didn't have to trade him immediately. I have a very hard time believing that the Celtics had the best offer on the table. Additionally, you don't trade him to a rival like the Celtics. They wanted to get rid of Crowder anyway, and the Cavs fixed the Celtics' IT problem too. If Gilbert's plan was to get rid of LeBron he executed it perfectly.

I wonder if Koby had a conversation with Pointer about getting his NBA shot after the trade deadline if he played on the charge. He seem to play well enough in Europe to get on another European team. It seems odd to end up on the Charge.

I think the vast majority here thought it was a decent deal at the time. I was concern about ITs hip and wanted to get rid of him or find a 3rd team after the medical report but it seemed like I was in the minority on that. I think everyone liked the pick and Crowder. I don't remember anyone thinking Crowder wasn't going to fit. Alot of people thought Crowder was the perfect fit to add to this roster well before the trade.

Now it looks like a horrible trade but at the time basically everyone on ESPN and in the sports media said we won the trade. I doubt it was some master plan on Gilbert's part to get rid of LeBron. I actually think it was just some hedge bet. Crowder and IT were suppose to be for the 2017-2018 season and Zizic and the draft pick were going to be for the future. If Gilbert wanted LeBron gone, he could have gotten draft picks and/or a bunch of young players for Kyrie.

Not surprised LeBron is passing on the guilt of leaving before he comes back. Even Griff this past summer said he knew LeBron was gone as soon as they won the title.

The deal in the end turned out bad, but I'm not gonna blame Gilbert or the Cavs for trying to get something for Kyrie when he was threatening surgery to avoid playing.

All LeBron had to do was commit to a team with Love and his favorite PG Kyrie on it, he couldn't even do that.

I also don't think LeBron expected this outcome with his Lakers team. As you said he is passing on the guilt, I think he could be realizing he messed up at least for this year. He could have stayed another year and got Koby to make more short term/big money trades then gone back to the finals. Now he has to fight a losing battle in the west and hope his plan comes together as a 34 aging superstar next year. No one wanted to join him this year and Kawhi and Butler have basically said they don't want to be on the Lakers. Add to that he signed a 4 year deal and might end up giving his last good years to a team that can't win, all for some Hollywood dream that would have been waiting for him there when he retired.

We can debate a lot of things, but my question has always been, what would have happened had they not traded Irving?

Fill in the blanks..would he have gone through the surgery and sit out?
Would there have been a bigger rift in the locker room?
Would he have left the team not to be heard from?

Sacramento and Brooklyn disagree.
Charlotte is mum on the situation.

My best guess is we are having this same debate except it would be "beginning of the end, Kyrie threaten surgery and follows thru on it". We would all be saying the Cavs should have traded Kyrie and now he still wants out but his value isn't as high. LeBron is gone because Dan wanted his piece in Kyrie to build for the future.

LeBron most likely puts out right now that he told Koby to let Kyrie move on and get the best package they can for him. Gilbert over ruled Koby and wanted to call Kyrie's bluff.

They had the worst record in the league the four year years LeBron was gone, 97-215, and won the lottery three times. They have the worst record in the NBA this year. Dan's ego led him to signing an injury-prone Kevin Love to a long term deal when he should've dealt him for picks or something. I'm a LeBron fan but I wish he had stayed in Cleveland. The Cavs deserve better than Dan Gilbert.

Still, the Kings have been garbage for decades.
