The counter being he shot 40+% on 5 attempts per game. Bad shooters are not capable of doing that.

That's why I pointed to Derrick William's one-season anomoly where he shot 60%. It was on fewer attempts per game, but had he shot even 20% on additional attempts to equal Fultz's attempts, he'd still have a better overall 3pt.% And he was a career 30% guy in the NBA.

Fultz could turn in to something in 12-18 months. Korver could be retired in 12-18 months. It's all about taking smart, calculated gambles as we start over.

Whatever we end up trading Korver for "could turn into something". The question is whether Fultz is the best we could do in exchange for Korver.

Guys that shoot well from three but are very poor from the line on good volume scare me a bit. You get fluke years like Jaylen Brown had last year.

When you can bring in the only guard that shoots less threes than your starting guard you just have to do it.

Fultz shot less than 65% FT in college. That's kind of low for a guy who supposedly had a good shot. That's why I really wonder how good a shooter he was.

His shot isn't pretty from College I know that. We also know it is even worse now. I dunno. It's a tough one. Minnesota thought they had a deal on Anthony Bennett.

Bye Korver good luck

Traded to Utah per Adrian Woj

2 future second round picks is the haul

Sure. To be clear, this is a trade that works 1 out of 10 times. But the Cavs are in a position to take that long shot risk.

You could trade Korver for an asset that has less upside and more certainty (lets say the 25th pick in the draft) or you can swing for the fences and try a reclamation project that has the chance to be a franchise turning moment.

I'm taking the 10% gamble on Fultz getting his shit together. If he does and you add a top 3-5 pick in with Fultz (panning out), Sexton, Cedi......suddenly, you are on a very different trajectory as an organization.

Now Korver is gone. We aren't egtting him unless they take 2 second round picks

Burks is still youngish and desperately needed a change of scenery. He still has some potential but don’t get your hopes too high, he’s not going to be a world beater by any means.

Good news is - he’s an expiring contract this season. He could be a great asset at the deadline to acquire another 1st.

He is also on a 11 million expiring contract so we don't take on any future money. It might be some of the thinking on moving Korver now and maybe use Burk's contract at the deadline.

He plays better defense than average correct? Does anyone know how well he played with Hood when they were together?

Burk's contract works better for Philly for the future though. It a regular expiring, the guaranteed money on Korvers contract could have caused issues for Philly depending on who they recruited in the summer.
