Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Quick thought, with the all star game in cleveland this year.Do the Indians get the majority of that revenue or is it split equally amongst all the teams?

I’m starting to get the sense that the Tribe isn’t going to make any major trades this winter, which means there wouldn’t be any significant upgrades to the outfield or bullpen. They may be more likely to make a deal where they exchange a bad contract for another bad contract that is a better fit for the roster.

I think they have to makes some trades in order to change up the roster. Going into next season as we are with only minor tweaks is doing a disservice to the team. With the right trades we can really strengthen the team for now and the future. I’m not happy having to trade away a Kluber but it may be the only way to keep this window open for a while

I agree that minor tweaks won’t be sufficient in closing the gap with the other AL playoff teams, but I think at this point they won’t get the return they’re seeking for Kluber or Bauer.

What would make you believe that? Harper and machado haven't even signed yet. Just because there won't be a trade at the winter meetings, doesn't mean there won't be one later on down the line. A lot of teams still need/want good pitchers.

If they trade Kluber, based on recent history, we won’t get sufficient return. In the Lee trade we got Cookie. Great pitcher but not a Cy Young winner. In Sabathia we got Brantley, an all star, but not the best at his position. I’m gonna be really pissed when they attach Kipnis/Alonso/Edwin as a salary saving move with Kluber/Bauer and not get the best return.

What in the fuck?

1051 games from Michael Brantley wasn't sufficient return for 3 months worth of CC?

Carrasco ranks 7th in WAR among starting pitchers since the 2014 season. Only guys who are above him are Kluber, Kershaw, Scherzer, Sale, deGrom, and Verlander. Since Cy Youngs are so important, there is a collective 9 Cy Youngs among those 6 pitchers and the only guy without one is Sale.

Legitimately one of the worst arguments I have ever seen on this site.

Both deals were ththe source of much anger by the average Tribe fan and both deals ended up being huge wins for the Indians.

If you're expecting a return of a Cy Young winner (Carrasco being a Cy Young type pitcher even though he's never "won" the award aside) and/or a guy who ends up being the best player at his position, you're going to be disappointed in damn near every single trade.

Imagine if we had chosen Taylor Green over Brantley. We done good.

Fascinating demands.

I think that's definitely true whether most people know it or not.

They ARE going to be disappointed in every trade. They want Kluber and Bauer, or CC and Cliff Lee to be Indians and match their production forever.

The old Rick Pitino adage of "he ain't walkin through that door" comes to mind.

You can either desperately hang on to the past, or continue building for the future. I understand that fans have issue with change, but its kill or be killed.
