2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
FanSided - 3 moves the Browns should make this offseason:

"The Big Move" -

Buy the final piece of the pass rush
The Browns have built a defense that, with just one or two more pieces at positions of need, could become one of the league’s best. With a bonafide superstar in defensive end Myles Garrett, and a disruptor in the middle with Larry Ogunjobi, the Browns are so close to having one of the league’s top defensive fronts.

Fortunately for the Browns, this is one of the top free agency classes for defensive line talent in a very long time. It’s unlikely that the Texans will let Jadeveon Clowney walk in free agency, so it’s best not to get caught up in a very low possibility signing. Rather, the Browns should be zeroing in on Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, or if they can steal him away from the Dallas Cowboys, defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

"Building Depth on the Roster" -

The Browns should be looking to draft for depth in 2019. They no longer need the best player available on the board, and they can pinpoint some needs in select areas. Outside of those, they just need to fill out the roster. They have the all-stars, now they just need the, “hey, he’s a nice piece” kind of players.

"Top Draft Priority" -

Get Baker Mayfield a new buddy
(...)But, pair a young star quarterback like Baker Mayfield up with a real No. 1 receiver? You could have something special on your hands. Depending on how you grade them, there may or may not be a future top-flight receiver in this draft class. But, if there is, Arizona State’s N’Keal Harry might just be that guy.

It’s a low-probability outcome, but if Harry is still on the board at No. 17 when the Browns pick, John Dorsey should be sprinting to Roger Goodell with the draft card. With Harry’s massive 6-4 frame and insane catch radius, Mayfield can put the ball basically anywhere he wants to.

Luring Demarcus Ware out of retirement would be a real coup...

But I assume FanSided meant Lawrence?

Sigh...

The Draft is still four months away.

If we are going after retired Defensive ends, why not Bruce Smith?

Sign DeMarcus Ware, draft a WR with the 17th pick

Woof

I read a FanSided piece this morning about how the Browns should target Colt McCoy or Teddy Bridgewater as backup quarterbacks. Because, you know, the average Browns fan can remember a few years ago when Browns articles contained those names.

Trash website. Don't give them your clicks.

We already have Stanton as the backup, why don't we get a developmental guy in the draft to be the 3rd stringer and develop him cheaply to save money long term? I don't think we need either of those guys mentioned lol

If the Colts make the right moves, they can be scary good next year with all the young talent they have.

Browns too. 16 teams were worse than use, yet none have more cap space. That is a much more amazing stat than having the most cap space last year.

I feel both the Browns and the Colts will be good teams next season if not actually the wins to beat within their division overall.

The Colts should pursue Lev Bell.

Well when you are as bad as we were at drafting, it gets to a point where you let anyone walk after their 1st contract lol.

We need more playmakers defensively (specifically linebackers) before I feel good about having to meet Luck in the AFC Championship year after year.
