2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair, if i was a player, i'd want nothing to do with the Browns either prior to last season and I'm from here.
You wouldn’t want to prove your worth as a premier talent in the league and be a part of a historic turnaround for a once storied franchise?

Says a lot.

In fairness, until last year there were more staph infections than playoff appearances. If franchises are risking players lives because of lack of quality medical care, I’d want to stay away, too. Now, if it’s just playing for a “bad” franchise, I’m all in for trying to help right the ship. But a dysfunctional franchise needs more help than any player can provide.

Been a long, long time since the staph infections were brought up.
Yikes

If I was a RB, no, I wouldn't want to go to a team with no QB and bad receivers. Dude would have never amounted to anything here because he plays a position where it's borderline impossible to lift your team up by yourself unless you're an all-time great talent.

And while Melvin Gordon is very good, he ain't no all-time great talent.

Dude, at the time the Browns were coming off an historic winless streak compounded by a crazy owner, known for making poor compulsive decisions, and coached by a man who would throw his mother under the bus rather than admit he made a mistake.

There was little sign of a meaningful turnaround just yet. From an objective point of view he absolutely had a point.

It isn't as if he trashed the city, or the fans, he merely called the organization out for what it was for a decade: Dysfunctional.

Two decades.

This Foles take is just so fucking laughably bad. Remember what happened last time he played outside the Eagles RPO?

Haskins, Murray, Rosen? What are we doing here? We’ve never seen these guys perform an offense at Jackson’s level in the NFL...

Trubisky? Carr? Garappolo? Dak? Maybe?? I’d still rather have Jackson.

Also Dalton is a sure as fuck no.

If you're saying Lamar Jackson is a more proven NFL QB than Andy Dalton, there's really no point in trying to continue this conversation.

Free agents left... Can't say any of them really appeal to me. I do wonder where Justin Houston ends up though.

I think the Browns might have a surprise trade up their sleeves as we get into the draft though. Most likely a vet safety or linebacker.

I still keep thinking about Dorsey saying there were things he wanted to do that didn't pan out when free agency started. Obviously, could just be a signing or two but I wonder if it could have been trade talks that are capable of being rekindled.

I'd rather have Jackson going forward, though, because Jackson might be good. We know who Dalton is at this point and he's just a guy.

I think ultimately what we have is good enough. Kindred is proven to be a starting caliber safety. Schobert, Kirksey, and Avery will feed off this defensive line. They just need to be okay in coverage and stopping the run. Both tackle spots have plenty of competition; Robinson and Hubbard will have to perform really well because Desmond Harrison is still on roster and Dorsey may add more tackles to compete.

Those guys listed will do the job just fine, but none of them really excel in their roles except for Schobert. They are stop gaps until something better comes along and I expect Dorsey to be developing guys behind them or shore up the depth sometime between now and end of preseason.

Dorsey picking BPA will infinitely improve this team more than reaching because of a need.
