2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The expectation/hope is that they don't start for us either.

Obviously, we signed two guys who started half a season for a playoff team that are for depth. Both probably don't even make the team, just one, but who knows.

And the other one is just here to start camp fights before getting cut.

Good signings for depth. Dorsey is showing that despite the Zeitler deal he clearly values our O-line and protecting Baker.

It may not seem like much now but it'll be huge if one of our starters go down for a few games. Let these guys battle it out in camp and learn from James Campen. With Campen's coaching Freddie's scheming, this is how you prevent a mid-season injury or two from becoming catastrophic.

Didn't we give Kush a 2 year deal or whatever? I know we can cut him, but it looks like Dorsey likes him enough to give him a multi-year deal, so I see him for sure making the roster, barring something happening where he isn't needed anymore.

This signing just screams cap body that could sneak onto the roster afterwards. Hopefully he provides depth, but otherwise it's just an average signing at best.

It's clear the Browns are done spending big. I am interested to see what happens with Eric Berry, especially considering the teams need for a safety. He fits the bill, if the price is right anyway. Guess we will see about that one.

I think we've identified some things that the Bears were doing or not doing because it seems a bit more than coincidental that we scooped 2 from them. Maybe we like guys who came from Nagy, who came from KC? Maybe there's some sort of back-channel familiarity there, or Dorsey has access to some additional scouting file or something.

As you said, these guys are depth, and who knows? Maybe Campen can make them more quality depth or step-in starter.

700k signing bonus, everything else is unguaranteed. If he doesn't make the squad we take 700k dead cap. He likes him, and his agent made him get a decent guarantee, but for a projected backup guard, but if he sucks or something happens, we can get off of him for cheap.

Win/win

Edit, maybe this year is guaranteed, for sure next year is not, so 350k dead money if we cut after one year. But he will be only 1.8 mill in 2019, average salary for a roster player is about 4 mill to give you an idea. It is backup money both years. But decent backup.

Dorsey originally scouted and signed both. Once he left they both jumped ship in Kansas City for Nagy's program. Familiarity for depth, can't disagree for such a low price tag.

More depth is never bad. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see both Kush and Witzmann make it. Kush can play some C I believe.

So Baker+backups = Wentz+backups and DeSh.Watson+backups? Sounds about right. Some look way off/are missing things, i.e. CAR is way high in the likelihood that Cam misses all of 2019.

I know we still have a big hole at SS from the trade, but Kindred+Randal+depth is almost the worst S set in the league?

RB seems low considering they have the best RB stable in the NFL.

Perhaps they didn't get the memo that Ingram left.
