Wyatt Teller: Pancake artist

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What/who else other than OBJ could he mean by "outside noise"?
Up until yesterday it wasn't outside noise, so no. Probably all the talking heads saying the Browns were in turmoil and cooked.

The thing with Teller is, I would have guessed he would have been north of $15 million.

And with a team this talented and this young, a lot of making it work is simply trimming the margins slightly.

We got the what? Second best RB in the league to sign with the #6 AAV.

We got the best guard in the league to sign with the #3 AAV, some $4 mil below the AAV of the top OG.

These contracts get cheaper year over year too.

Tip of the cap to BOTH the players and FO, in coming together to try to compromise slightly on dollars in order to win.

Feels great seeing these guys get locked up and at amounts that are palatable to the team.
I like it. Save a little here, save a little there, that shit adds up. Meanwhile it's crucial that we continue to draft well. Every 1st round pick we don't whiff on or 6th round steal that fills a role is like finding an extra $8 - 12 mil of cap space that we dont need to overpay a FA for. A huge reason to continue to focus on going BPA in the draft.

We still have Ward and Baker left. This gonna get interesting

These are the 4 recent guards to get big money in free agency.

In comparison to those, I think the Browns did pretty well considering Teller is the best RG in football right now. Thuney is probably Top 5ish at LG. Vaitai seems like Chris Hubbard 2.0- I don't even know what the Lions signed him to play- and Glasgow is maybe like Top 10ish at RG?

It's still a lot of money but think they did well to contain it to 4 years.

2021- Wyatt Teller, Cleveland. 4 yrs $56.8m / $29m GTD
2021- Joe Thuney, Kansas City. 5 yrs $80m / $48m GTD
2020- Halapulivaati Vaitai, Detroit. 5 yrs $45m / $20m GTD
2020- Graham Glasgow, Broncos: 4 yrs $44m / $26m GTD

I think Wyatt is potentially the most valuable offensive lineman for his respective team in all of football.

And he got 28 gtd. Feels good when people want to stay here.

We made it past halfway point of the season. I'm hoping I have time to knock out an article on the Teller signing, but since a rough start to the season he has been near perfect.

If the Browns wanted to see something this season to meet Teller's numbers, they likely wanted to see him handle his tougher matchups without holding penalties and stay healthy. After a tough outing against the great Chris Jones, that's exactly what Teller has accomplished so far.
I was more referring the fact the OBJ leaving gave more rollover cap plus the knowledge his contract won't be on the books. But I definitely agree that the Browns wanted more than 13 games before committing.

The combination of being able to drive block, zone block, and then also pull the way he does is really special, and enables us to have a very creative running game that keeps other teams off balance.

Nailed it.

Pretty sure that contract is right on par with what he would've got on the open market right? Of the teams that need a G and had cap space were any of them gonna give him more than $14M AAV?

We got him in a discount. He probably becomes the highest paid guard.
