Wyatt Teller: Pancake artist

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We got him in a discount. He probably becomes the highest paid guard.

Honestly not much of a discount, but slight. He gets one shot of big money and this is it, so money was huge to him. But he took himself off the market for us, and that alone is huge. Means he wanted to be here IF he got paid.

Congrats to Wyatt, and all it took from Dorsey was a 5th and a 7th round pick.

Cheers one to Buddy Boy!

Interesting structure to the Teller contract: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/11/09/inside-the-wyatt-teller-extension/

Lower average in 2022 and looks to be a two-year guaranteed extension with two 'we'll see years' after that which aren't guaranteed..

Heading into next year Tretter is an obvious restructure/cut candidate but he is still playing at a high level and obviously an important part of the line.. They would create $8.25 million in cap space by cutting him but the conundrum is I don't believe his replacement is currently on the roster... We thought that might be Nick Harris but nothing we've seen so far leads anyone to believe he can step in at that level... With Tretter seemingly (healthwise) only likely playing a couple more years, I wonder if they approach him about a restructure to lower his cap hit but lock him up for another year or two...

I think Hooper is an obvious restructure candidate as they save more by restructuring than cutting... Keenum could also be on the chopping block and perhaps they explore a reunion at a lower rate...

I think Keenum is gone with Mullens signed to our practice squad.

I am not sure we resturcture or cut Tretter, we have no replacement and he is playng at a high level. 8.25 is fair price for his level of production.

I think Landry could be cut, saves 14.5 million, on pace for 50 receptions for 600 yards, way to much money for that production.

I think we could see Conklin cut, maybe sign a RT at a reduced price and draft one in the first 2 rounds?

We've seen the importance of a backup QB thus far and while Keenum makes close to $8 million next year, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make it work one more year before a potential Baker extension kicks in... But yes, he does represent an easy way to acquire cap room next year..

Landry is another one but similiar to Tretter, I do think he means a lot to this offense off the field and I don't see a logical replacement on the roster... The Browns did draft Felton and Schwartz and do have DPJ but that is an awfully thin room, even adding another through the draft or free agency... Higgins is an obvious candidate to come back but this FO or coaching staff don't seem to value him highly...

Conklin is a no-go for several reasons: one he's playing at a high level, two we see the importance the FO places on offensive line and three the Browns would incur $9 million in dead cap and only save $2 million by cutting him..

With Hance's positional versatility, I do wonder if they explore him at center next year...

Not true on Conklin. Yes 9 mill in dead cap, but it converts a weird contract that has 6 mill in dead cap in 2023, it would save 9 mill to cut Conklin, he has 3 mill guaranteed next year in a bonus, then the 6 mill bonus he gets in 2023 even though he isnt under contract converts to next year.

So it would be a long term saving measure, doesnt create a ton of cap room in 2022, just 3 mill, but creates 6 mill in cap room for 2023 for a player who wont even be on the roster.

If not cut, maybe restructure, but he is owed 18 mill over 2 years, 9 guaranteed, he might not want a restructure. He has one of those bad contracts similar to Hooper who has money coming after he is not on the team. Makes them hard to move, and hard to cute, but Conklin could be gone.

I think Keenem is an obvious one and why we got Mullins. Mullins might have been able to win us that Denver game too and is much cheaper and is an experienced starter in the NFL

Nice to have him arround through 2025

We thought that might be Nick Harris but nothing we've seen so far leads anyone to believe he can step in at that level...

Harris has been great blocking on the move in the preseason. If the pocket is moving or he pulls to lead a back, he's a starter.

The problem is the same since his rookie year. Harris struggles when he has to anchor against a bull rush from an elite defensive interior opponent.

He has done a good job as JC Tretter's stand in during the week for practices. He may be a solid bridge when Tretter moves on or retires.

You're right, but "struggles" is being a bit charitable. It's like he's on roller skates against a strong interior defender. Borderline unplayable.
