Heres how I think things are goin.
Guys who we probably really arent even lookin into
Richard Jefferson-There really hasn't been to many reports of him and Cleveland. Other teams maybe but not us too much. He would be a good fit but I think we are lookin bigger. We can't rip off Milwaukee twice can we?
Rip Hamilton- This is a guy I would like to see but there is no chance we get him. I already tried one over on Windhorst and he said there is NO WAY we trade with the Pistons.
Allen Iverson- See above. Allen Iverson has absolutely no place on this team. Talk about team killing cancer.
Pretty much crossed off the list
John Salmons - He obviously demands alot of shots and he could mess with our chemistry.
Michael Redd- He is hurt so he is done.
Gerald Wallace- Same with G. He showed us that it was smart not to go after him since he is injury prone (but Im praying he gets better and wish the best of luck to him).
Stephen Jackson- This is where the "pretty much" part comes in. Everything is good about him......except his contract but I think that is enough for us to avoid him because its so long term.
Antwan Jamison- Talented but I just dont think he is the type of PF that we need. Plus his contract is defenitly what turns it off.
Maybes
Vince Carter- Are we willing to take his 4 year contract? Thats probably the biggest question but obviously VC is exactly what were missin at the 2. Hes an all star and great player. Personally I don't think we will get him because we are gonna play it safe and not take any contracts that big. Our future is pretty important at this point. 3 year contracts we may take on, preferably 2 but 4?.........I cant see us doin it.
Mike Miller- Great contract with 2 years left but would we be willing to use Wally for just Mike? Or would we be better off lettin Wallys contract expire? I have heard numerous times if were gonna use Wally in a trade its defenitly gonna make a big impact and with Mike struggling lately and comin off injury....Im not sure were lookin into it too hard ( the Wolves even claim they arent lookin to trade Mike which I don't believe for one second).
Ron Artest- Now if THIS guy becomes available like reported....to me its an automatic to get him. GREAT defense and has a good relationship with Mike Brown. Plus he is honestly a good 3point shooter and scorer. This to me would push us over the top. Good contract too (1 year I believe?). The only issue is the chemistry which I don't think we will get him because of all the problems that follow him. With all of our success, Ferry is just the type of guy that wouldn't be lookin to get him. Hopefully he would change his mind because I know Ron is friends with Lebron, but chemistry is that important, NO risks.
Elton Brand- Hes kinda in the VC situation. He could make a big time impact but hes gettin older and has had some injury. The 4 year contract is the issue and Im not sure were goin for it. He would be a great fit at the 4 though.
Tracy McGrady- I really think we are on the other side of tryin to get him. His injuries are such a huge factor but you just can't cross him off the list because he is such a huge talent and complete player. If he was playing at his full potential playing along side Lebron. A couple of 6'8 superstars runnin with each other would be unstoppable. He only has 2 years on the contract too. Injuries is too big of an issues and I personally wouldn't look to hard into gettin him and thats probably how the staff feels.
So your probably now wondering who is a REAL good possiblities are after dismissing most of everbody.
The better deals
Marcus Camby- Extremely safe trade and very beneficial. Covers the most extreme issue we have of post depth and post defense. 2 years on his contract too.
Josh Howard- Young guy, good contract, good fit. The only question is if he is really available because Cuban is acting like hes not.
Brad Miller- Good contract and takes care of the post. Not as good of an option as Camby because Miller is softer and not half as good on D but his offense and skill can't be ignored. Im not sure we are willing to trade Wally for just Brad Miller though.
The possible "DREAM' players
I honestly can't describe how good of a possiblity it is to get these guys. Thats why they are dream possiblities. (most of these players may become possible because they are currently not happy and/or there team is not performing well)
Carlos Boozer
Andre Igoudala
Amare Stoudemire
Chris Bosh
Then there are the players nobody really knows about because they are well protected and are not out there in the media. Some situations will appear close to the deadline too. I kind of have a feeling we will get suprised by a player we get if we get one. This is just how I see things shapin up as of right now.
