2023-24 Season | Game #20 | Cavs @ Pistons | Dec. 2, 2023 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This organization is going to have to pick between Garland or Mitchell. These two are never going to gel together.

It's frustrating how limited Garland is out there. He doesn't get to play like a true point guard when Mitchell is there. Their games don't complement each other at all, in any way, really. There's literally no point keeping both players.

One has to go. It may not be this year, but going forward, you got to pick one. Garland has to be it, because of his contract compared to Mitchell.
And it’s not even about height. When Steoh has the ball, Klay runs all over the place to find looks via cuts, screens, picks. When Klay or Draymond have the ball, Steph of course moves as much as about anyone in the league ever has(on par with Ray Allen and Reggie Miller l)

When Mitchell has the ball, I feel like DG makes an earnest effort to move off ball as well(am I wrong?)

When DG has the ball, it feels like Mitchell does very limited movement, which has a cascade effect on how effective the movement of the other three guys can be.

I know now we have got to make a coaching change but I do not believe for one second JBB is just telling Mitchell to stand there and wait to get the ball back, because when Mitchell is out and DG is in, you see more movement and action from all four other guys.

It me be that some of our emerging leaders are clashing with the guy we brought in last September…idk.

There may be faction on this team that are widening the more time goes on. Not too the level of personal dislike or hate, but just in terms of who aligns with who
I think Strus can assume the mantle of team leader if DM and DG don’t let their fragile egos get in the way,

I just think Mitchell is fed up with JBB. Mitchell hasn't won a ton but he's won more than JBB. He's All-NBA first team talent. Something this team hasn't seen since the LeGoat.

A different coach imo makes this team a contender.

Gotta say this thread was not as bad as I expected it would be...did all those not Watchung til jbb gone guys actually do it

If it wasn't for Okoro, I think we probably lose this game. There's some seriously wrong, when it takes Okoro to right the ship against the worst team in basketball.

I don't think we are a poor team. I think the team is completely discombobulated...

This is not just a JBB issue, we know he sucks, that's no secret. His refusal to use the bench is definitely a big problem.

Something feels off though since that Portland game. Are some guys unhappy with their role, I don't know...

Individual stats:

Starters:
Strus 22-5-5 with a steal in 38 minutes. Star of the game.
Mobley 6-10-1 Just 2-5 fg. In 36 minutes. But why doesn't he get 15 shots a game?
Allen 19-12-2 with a steal in 34 minutes. 8-9 fg. I'd give him 5 more shots per game too.
Garland 22-1-5 with 3 steals and a block in 34 minutes. Just 9-23 shooting, but he was key down the stretch in the 4th.
Mitchell 20-3-4 with 2 steals in 33 minutes 7-19 fg 2-5 from 3. Off night shooting, but he helped us win.

Bench: 21-12-7 in 33 minutes, mostly Okoro. He seemed to take LeVert's minutes
Okoro 9-7-4 with 4 steals in 33 minutes. A great game. He caused Cunningham to go cold. JYD?
Niang 12-3-2 in 22 minutes
Porter 0-0-0 in 4 minutes
Merrill 0-0-1 in 2 minutes
Thompson 0-2-0 in 2 minutes

This is a win that I'm pretty sure nobody feels good about :chuckle:

It just feels some guys are clearly unhappy right now. And I can't say I blame them. We are under performing. And some roles are being limited. That's when guys get unhappy and frustrated fast.

They say the Cavs locker room is tight. And it may be, but it definitely feels there may be some tension right now.

You could probably make that argument for two-thirds of the NBA right now since so many teams are hovering around. 500 ball. The NBA is way more competitive, and it is a long season on top of it.

Yeah, just look at how we play when Mitchell is there, and isn't. It's night and day different, and let's be honest. It's BETTER when he's not there.

There is a Mitchell problem. I don't dislike the guy, I guess I'm sounding like a hater of his. I don't like his fit here at all.

I HOPE he requests a trade. Honestly, I do. I feel we can trade him and be FINE! Let Mitchell be happy, let us be happy.

This marriage just isn't working. I think both parties need out.
