2023-24 Season | Game #30 | Cavs @ Bulls | Dec. 23, 2023 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wouldn't go there, but he really does coach better when he doesn't have his best players.

JBB is the perfect coach for a young team, still finding itself. Not the right coach for a team trying to contend.
Agreed and still a helluva win... How this team is playing right now tells me a lot about him in my opinion and motivating the younger guys...

I notice that JBB as a coach, is actually not completely incompetent, when he doesn't have his studs. The offense just looks really crisp.

I didn't see many poor possessions.

Maybe it isn’t 100% on JBB? Maybe the starting players bear some responsibility or they are misfit toys to some extent?

Maybe having defensive, passing and rebounding players helps us win?

Maybe it helps to have a confident floor general like CPJ?

Not much to complain about tonight. Coach seems to be solid when he doesn't have to make choices and that's all I'll say about it.

Great showings from CPJ, Allen, and Strus tonight. Solid impact full play from Wade, Okoro, and TT. Even Jones had a few positive minutes for once. Good experience for Emoni but he is still a few years away

There's a weird dynamic with him and Mitchell IMO.

I don't think either one gels at all together.

I'm not a JBB guy, still not, but he did do good things pre-Mitchell. The Mitchell era has brought out the worse of him as a coach IMO. It's not a good dynamic at all.

Make no mistake, Mitchell, or no Mitchell. If we want to contend, this guy is NOT it though.

JBB does bring good things to the table though. I think we've all been too pissed at him lately to admit it.

Thunder were garbage against the Lakers tonight, so I tuned in during the 4th and greatly enjoyed it. Cannot get over how good CPJ is, what a floor general with a deadly close and midrange shot he can create as well. Strus was nailing bombs, and great to see JA play inspired as well.

Individual stats: We have a lot of stars tonight. JYD to Tristan or Porter?

Starters:
Okoro 12-3-3 in 34 minutes. He looked crummy at times, but he scored 12 on 9 shots, 6-7 FT. And he guarded Derozan and made him defend.
Wade 11-7-1 with 2 steals. in 36 minutes. Solid defense, frustrated Derozan, got rebounds.
Allen 19-17-7 with a steal and a block in 35 minutes. Super game. Only 9 shots is the only problem I see. 7-10 FT. Lots of assists
Strus 26-1-7 with 2 steals and a block in 40 minutes. He forced a lot of shots, but he made things happen. Lots of assists.
Porter 19-7-8 with a steal and a block in 39 minutes. Our point guard. I'm happy with him.

Solid starters, missing 3 of our starters.

Bench: 22-13-2 seems poor, but it's really our 3rd string.
Niang 7-5-0 in 21 minutes. Shot wasn't falling.
Bates 3-0-0 and a block in 9 minutes Got some air time. Played some defense.
Thompson 6-6-1 in 13 minutes Both Tristan and Allen outplayed their centers.
Jones 6-2-1 with a steal in 11 minutes. His best game of the year. Good timing.

I said it earlier in this thread...JBB gets the most out of players who aren't super talented, but have a lot to prove and will play hard, team ball every second they're on the court. That's why he exceeded expectations before we got Mitchell, that's why the team looks good once our stars went down.
