2023 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
19 is a little old for rookie DSL action, especially with a 500k bonus... Maybe start in the DSL and finish in the ACL, or he comes stateside right away?

I think your instincts are correct.. skip DSL and go directly to Complex leagues.. Challenging him at this point is probably a good thing..

Maybe so but remember any player stateside (even in extended spring training) counts toward the player development limit. Those in the DSL are not counted against that limit.

Though I wonder if they will work on his mechanics and whatnot before they get him into game action?

yep.. part of the numbers game.. life's rough in the big city..

I wouldn't worry about the 180 limit with the 2 Cuban kids. They are old enough and not really tied to our DSL complex. Might as well bring them both over and let them hang with guys their own age -- to make them feel most comfortable. Plus, our stateside pitching instructors are usually better than in DSL (as it is not our focus - pitching there).

But, with 180 over 5 clubs (AAA,AA,A+,A,Cplx), you really don't hit limits until the draft and needing to roster pitchers who won't pitch. I remember that they were even thinking of reducing these numbers to limit teams to just 1 rookie ball team.

Does anyone subscribe to Baseball Prospectus? They just released their list of top 101 prospects and I was curious if any Guardians prospects made the list.

I wonder.
Since Manzardo is not on BA's Top 100 Prospects list, if the pressure is off the Guardians to roster him on opening day in order to get that bonus draft pick?
If so, maybe they could squeeze DDLS onto the roster.
