2023-24 Season | Game #55 | Cavs @ 76ers | Feb. 23, 2024 | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think it’s pretty clear: Without Mitchell, Cavs winnin’ nuthin’.
I hope we don’t have to find this out the hard way Sunday and he’s back for that game..a loss to the Wizards would see a meltdown here.

Leverts horrible game will divert attention from Mobleys stinker. 8 points, zero assists, four turnovers, one block. Some nice rebounds. But he is not showing any signs of becoming the man
Not showing any signs? Really? His stat line since returning from injury, sans tonight, say otherwise.

I just don't see him wanting to extend here. He's going to be 28 at the start of next season.
Again. What player walks away from this type of money at the age of 28...

  • In 2024: sign four-year, $200.4 million max extension
  • In 2025: Re-sign with Cavs on five-year, $259.4 million max deal or sign elsewhere on a four-year, $192.3 million max deal

By waiting to sign an extension until next summer, he could add an extra year and $55 million to his next deal. As tempting as it might be to lock in long-term financial security now—nearly $145 million is nothing to scoff at!—he can guarantee himself even more money by remaining patient.

The Cavs this season, according to bball ref, are 4 points per 100 possessions better than their opponent with Garland ON the court. That's good.

They are 7 points per 100 possessions better with him OFF the court.

Therein lies the issue when people just use net rating. Lots of players have positive net ratings when the team is really good. The question is, is the team even better when they are off the court? And the answer this season is, yes, they are.

Garland is a career 15 PER player. He's a 15 PER player this year.

He's being paid 40 million dollars. He has to be more than the above.
The Cavs were not 7 points better with him off the court the last two games. They were worse. His minutes are staggered with Mitchell so it's not surprising that Mitchell and bench guys are 3 points better than Garland and bench guys. This is especially true because Mitchell got to play a lot of minutes against bad teams when Garland was hurt.

Garland doesn't make $40M per. He's on a rookie max which is 25% of the cap. He makes $34M.

PER is a straight garbage stat that no serious analysist uses.

Even though we lost, I'll have a drink. Bourbon on the rocks.

Good points:

Allen 24-9-0 with a block.
Garland 20-5-9 with 2 steals
Strus 14-1-6 with a block and a steal

That's all. Let this stinker serve as motivation for the team. I'm glad they never gave up.
Thats why we drink. To be fair they showed more heart at the end of this game than last. We are talented no doubt but I accepted our fate on the last game. We are leverting back to old habits, our coach is a moron when it comes to rotations and our starting unit doesnt mesh. I know our bench let us down tonight but I still view them as the strength of the team. Our starting unit and coach are gonna be our demise come playoff time

Looks like mitchell is out with no "letemknow" tweet thus far. Will JBB:

-Give Merrill 20+ minutes?
-Have a quick hook for levert and Niang if they aren't doing what we need them to do
-Allow Porter consitent minutes as backup PG

If he does 2 of these things, they win.

Uh…no….no… and no.

Hope it’s a good, high-proof, bourbon

I think it’s clear: Mitchell is the difference between winning and losing. Garland is incidental.

Don can get that while getting out too. He and the Cavs know no team will offer anything significant for him without a sign a trade.
I won't argue over something you have no idea what will happen in the future, no one knows. Most players do not walk from this type of money. He cannot get that kind of money elsewhere... He could always ask for a trade further down the line and who cares if that happens. Cleveland would get a great return on him...

I honestly think teams are scared to offer those super max extensions now. The numbers look fucking crazy. You better be in the conference finals at least. Sheesh.

It is insane type of money...

EDIT:
And if I were to gamble on it Gilbert will pay it no problem...
